Abstract: A hosted mobile management service is provided for enabling a user to access a centralized account through a user interface on a terminal in order to manage the user's media information, such as digital music and photos. Any modifications made by user through the user interface are transparently sent to the user's mobile device where a module receives such modification information and interacts with the mobile device to reconcile such modifications.

Abstract: When one actor or network within a broader system of networks is announcing numerous routes or otherwise performing “poorly,” the neighboring networks can suffer because of the strain that the poorly performing network puts on resources. Typically, in order to counteract the effects of a poorly performing neighboring network, a router may simply stop accepting changes or stop accepting packets from the poorly performing neighbor. Some network participants may only temporarily be acting poorly and straining its neighbors' resources, however. Therefore, in some of the embodiments, a reputation score or level for a network participant may be determined based on its actions over time. This reputation may be used to determine whether, when, and how to act on the network request from the participant.

Abstract: A system comprises: (a) storage and distribution means; (b) inventory upload means; (c) product information download means; (d) order upload means; and (e) delivery download means. A method comprises: (a) digitally transferring the goods and pertinent product information from a provider of the goods to a storage and distribution means; (b) storing the goods, pertinent product information, order information, sales information, or marketing information on the storage and distribution means; (c) digitally transferring product information to a shopper; (d) digitally transferring order information from a buyer of goods to the storage and distribution means; and (e) digitally transferring the goods to the buyer. The storage and distribution means may be provided with a network connection for access by providers, shoppers, and buyers.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments that facilitate execution of applications through remotely emulated computing devices. An application is executed in a hosted environment. A video signal of the application is encoded into a media stream, which is sent to a client computing device. In various embodiments, access to data that is locally available to the client computing device is facilitated. In various embodiments, data related to the operation of the application is recorded.

Abstract: Editing the sequential flow of objects of a page is disclosed. The objects may have intended correct sequential order for processing or viewing, which may be difficult to detect by a computer algorithm. An initial flow may be created using an initial flow algorithm to provide an initial order of the objects. The initial flow may be visually represented on a page, such as by a curve drawn through the objects. A human editor may reorder the objects if the initial flow is not correct. In some aspects, the editor may trace a new order of the objects by controlling an input device to sequentially order the objects in an editor-assigned flow. In other aspects, the editor may sequentially select objects to create the editor-assigned flow. In response to the editor-assigned flow, a validation flow may be created, which may assist the editor in confirming accuracy of the edited flow. In other aspects, heuristics may learn from the editor-assigned flow to improve the initial flow over time.

Abstract: A physical computer system includes a processor and a memory configured to store instructions executable by the processor to implement a virtualization module, which in turn implements virtual machine(s) that execute an operating system distinct from any underlying operating system executed by the physical computer system. In response to a client request to initially perform a repeatable computation, the virtualization module instructs that the virtual machine(s) archive an original initial state of the repeatable computation, initially perform the repeatable computation, and archive an original terminal state of the repeatable computation.

Abstract: Network computing systems may implement data loss prevention (DLP) techniques to reduce or prevent unauthorized use or transmission of confidential information or to implement information controls mandated by statute, regulation, or industry standard. Implementations of network data transmission analysis systems and methods are disclosed that can use contextual information in a DLP policy to monitor data transmitted via the network. The contextual information may include information based on a network user's organizational structure or services or network infrastructure. Some implementations may detect bank card information in network data transmissions. Some of the systems and methods may be implemented on a virtual network overlaid on one or more intermediate physical networks that are used as a substrate network.

Abstract: An organization conducting transactions with customers may employ a private computer network to enable customers to place a telephone call to customer service agents (CSAs). To maintain high customer service, it may desirable to expand the private computer network's ability to respond to customer calls on-demand. One or more requests for additional telephony resources may be submitted to a telephony resource allocation service in communication with a configurable network service. The telephony resource allocation service may determine telephony resources available for allocation to the private computer network and facilitate communication between the configurable network service and the private computer network. In this manner, additional computer private network extensions executing instances of call distribution services may also be generated and configured.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for providing reviewer feedback identifying a correlation between a reviewer's past voting record and successful results. Based on a reviewer's past record, the reviewer may be assigned a power rating identifying the statistical accuracy of the reviewer's voting history. That power rating may be used to weight future votes, thereby increasing the likelihood that accurate decisions will be made.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of systems, methods, and computer programs that facilitate reducing purchase hesitance. At least one product offered by a seller at an initial price is displayed to a buyer. Activity of the buyer throughout an electronic commerce system is tracked. Purchase hesitance in the activity is identified. A concession is offered to the buyer by the seller to provide incentive to the buyer to purchase the product within the electronic commerce system.

Abstract: A computing system for searching for and identifying data repository deficits includes an interactive database of items, a data repository that stores a first type of information related to items, a search engine configured to identify items that do not have an amount of the first type of information that meets a first threshold, a candidate selection interface that provides functionality for the user to select an item from recommended candidate items needing the first type of information, a user interface via which the user can provide the first type of information for an item selected by the user, a game system configured to calculate for a game scores and rankings based at least in part on data stored in the data repository.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for determining inventory levels of a multi-channel seller. Order rates can be retrieved from various marketplaces in which a seller participates. An inventory depletion rate can also be determined. A period of uncertain inventory availability can be determined based at least upon an update interval with which order updates are retrieved. Inventory can be reported as unavailable based at least upon an initial quantity of the product, the inventory depletion rate, and whether the period of uncertain inventory availability is entered.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for discovery of public points of interest. Data identifying points of interest is obtained. Each point of interest is associated with a respective user and specifies a respective name and a respective geographic location. A public point of interest is determined based at least in part on a similarity of the respective names of a subset of the points of interest, a proximity of the respective geographic locations of the subset of the points of interest, and a number of different users associated with the subset of the points of interest.

Abstract: Suggestions can be automatically provided to a user to enable a user to tag various electronic files or objects without having to think up or manually enter the tags. A tag suggestion algorithm can analyze various types of information, such as location, time of day, objects or persons associated with the file, and tags generated by other users for that type of file. A user can be presented with a list of suggested tags, and can select one or more tags to apply to the file. Once at least one tag is applied to a file, a user can perform a tag-inclusive search to locate that file.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments that implement attention misdirection to conceal errors in streaming video. A video stream quality monitor executed in one or more computing devices determines that an error in a video stream may be user perceivable. The video stream is then configured to include a distraction to mask the error. The distraction is designed to induce a saccade in a user, which interferes with perception of the error by the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for rendering an image-based reflowable file. The image-based reflowable file may be configured to adapt itself to be rendered on various sized displays, such as by permitting lines of reflow objects to “reflow” according to the given size of a display. An image-based reflowable file may include one or more reflow objects, where each reflow object forms a sub-image and is defined in a bounding region. Rendering an image-based reflowable file may include determining a horizontal render position and a vertical render position for each bounding region.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for encoding and processing digital information. The digital information is encoded according to binary encoding formats corresponding to primitive data types. The primitive data types comprise scalar data types including Boolean, integer, float, decimal, time stamp, string, symbol, binary large object, and character large object data types. The primitive data types also comprise composite data types including structure, list, and S-expression data types. The binary-encoded digital information is stored in a message with a predetermined format for transmission. No metadata is included in the message.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for network routing metering are disclosed. In some embodiments, various changes to the routes, and other actions requested by a computer system, physical or virtual, can be metered. Those actions may be performed and later rated in order to determine what amount, if any, to charge an account associated with the requesting network participant system. The network participant system can be billed based on the activities performed on its behalf. Therefore, even if a network is performing poorly and requires more resources that would normally be allowed by a neighboring router, if the network owner pays to have these requests performed, then the embodiments herein can allocate more resources to supporting the network's rapidly changing network.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for automatically determining estimated item dimensions may facilitate operations of a materials handling facility when exact dimensions of items are not known. Such a method may involve determining dimensions of a container, portal, or dimensionally constrained path in which an instance of a given item is handled and determining estimated dimensions of the item dependent on dimensions of the container, portal, or path. In some embodiments, the method may include determining dimensions of a second container, portal, or path in which an instance of the item is handled and updating the estimated item dimensions dependent on the dimensions of the second container, portal, or path. In some embodiments, the method may include recommending a container, portal, or path suitable for storing or transporting one or more items dependent on the estimated dimensions. In some embodiments, the estimated dimensions may facilitate identifying items in an inventory area.

Abstract: Users intending to launch instances or otherwise access virtual resources in a multi-tenant environment can specify a launch configuration. For each type of instance or each type of user, at least one launch configuration is created that includes parameters and values to be used in instantiating an instance of that type, the values being optimized for the current environment and type of instance. Launch configurations can be optimized for different types of users, such as to account for security credentials and access levels. Such an approach enables users to launch instances by contacting the resource provider directly without need for a proxy, which can function as a choke point under heavy load. The use of an appropriate launch configuration can be enforced for any type of user at any level, such as at the sub-net level, by modifying a request that does not specify an appropriate launch configuration.
