Abstract: An apparatus for manufacture of an electrowetting device is provided. The apparatus includes a first and second support plate feeding system to provide a first and second support plate respectively. The first and second support plate feeding systems include a first and second element respectively. The first and second elements are positioned relative to each other so as to angle the first support plate relative to the second support plate such that the first support plate and the second support plate are brought closer together as the first support plate and the second support plate are fed by the first element and the second element, respectively, so as to provide, during the manufacture of the electrowetting device, a cavity between the first support plate and the second support plate. The apparatus also includes a first and second fluid supply system for supply of a first and second fluid respectively.

Abstract: Techniques are described for providing a predictive data streaming service associated with a visual media file. For example, third type of frame data for a visual media file may be transmitted to a client device from a streaming service. In embodiments, a selection of the particular visual media file may be transmitted to the streaming service. A request may be made to an interface associated with the client device, via an application program interface call, for a first data stream of a first type of frame data and a second data stream of a second type of frame data for the particular visual media file. The request may be based at least in part on the selection of the particular visual media file and after receipt of the third type of frame data. The third type of frame data, the first data stream of the first type of frame data, and the second data stream of the second type of frame data may be interleaved based at least in part on instructions from the interface.

Abstract: A provisioning device may be shipped to a client and used to automatically provision an IoT device to join a local network to communicate with a remote service provider. In response to a trigger input, the provisioning device creates a wireless hotspot that is recognizable by an IoT device as a provisioning hotspot. The provisioning device receives a signal from the IoT device indicating that the IoT device is available to be provisioned. The provisioning device obtains provisioning data and transmits the provisioning data to the IoT device. The IoT device uses the provisioning data to connect to a local wireless network and to establish a connection to the remote service provider. The IoT device may then use one or more IoT services of the service provider.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for distributed computing with adaptive parallelization are disclosed. An execution time metric is determined based (at least in part) on execution of a batch of jobs. A quantity of partitions for an additional batch of jobs is determined based (at least in part) on the execution time metric and on a target metric. The additional batch of jobs is divided between a set of partitions of the determined quantity. Execution is initiated of the additional batch of jobs in the set of partitions. The set of partitions comprises at least a first partition and a second partition. A first subset of jobs in the first partition is executed in parallel with a second subset of jobs in the second partition.

Abstract: A journaling file system may implement remote durable logging. Updates to a file system may be received, and log records describing the updates may be stored in a locally-accessible file system change log. The update may then be acknowledged as committed. The log records may then be sent to be stored in a network-based data store in a remote version of the file system change log. Once it may be determined that the log records are stored in the remote version, storage space for the log records in the local file system change log may be reclaimed. Various types of restoration and duplication techniques may be implemented based on the remote version of the change log to restore a file system at an originating device or to duplicate the file system at a different device.

Abstract: A system and method are described for configuring a motherboard using expansion cards plugged into motherboard slots. In particular, each of the expansion cards can include a control signal that is supplied to the motherboard and that can configure hardware positioned on the motherboard. In one embodiment, the configuration allows a communication path to be switched on to allow the expansion cards to cross communicate.

Abstract: An audio analysis system that may analyze participant audio input in a game spectating environment. The audio analysis system may receive audio input for participants (broadcasters and/or spectators) in a game spectating system. The audio analysis system may analyze the audio input to generate audio analysis information for broadcasts, and provide the information to the game spectating system. The audio analysis information may be applied in the game spectating system in various ways. For example, the information may be used to determine active or popular broadcasts, broadcasters, games, and/or recordings of broadcasts, and the active or popular content may be indicated to spectators via a game spectating user interface. The audio analysis system may provide an application programming interface (API) to receive the audio input and to provide audio analysis information.

Abstract: A congestion controller may be configured to control traffic on an interconnect between a higher level cache and a lower level cache. The lower level cache may also be coupled to a main memory. The congestion controller may be configured to reduce congestion on the interconnect by blocking transactions that include writing of data to the lower level cache if the data has not been modified relative to a copy of the data in the main memory. The congestion controller may also be configured to control the traffic by blocking certain transactions in a controlled manner for traffic shaping or for performance features.

Abstract: Technologies are provided for organizing network routes using network topology information. A router in a computer network can be configured to group network address prefixes in a routing table based on origin device clusters. The router can be configured to receive a routing protocol message comprising one or more prefixes and associated next hops. The router can identify an origin device cluster based on information contained in the message. The router can create a next hop group and associate it with the origin device cluster. The router can add the prefixes and next hops in the message to the next hop group. When an updated next hop list for a prefix is received at the router, the router can identify an origin device cluster for the prefix, identify a next hop group associated with the origin device cluster, and update the next hop group using the updated next hop list.

Abstract: A technology is described for predicting a launch time for a computing instance. An example method may include receiving a request for a predicted launch time to launch a computing instance on a physical host within a computing service environment. Data associated with launch features of a computing instance may then be obtained, where the launch features may be determined to have an impact on a launch time of the computing instance on a physical host within a computing service environment. The launch features of the computing instance may then be input to a machine learning model that outputs the predicted launch time for launching the computing instance within the computing service environment.

Abstract: A password application system receives a credential for a first privilege of a plurality of privileges whereby the first privilege corresponds to a first set of credential requirements and the plurality of privileges have a second privilege that corresponds to a different set of credential requirements. The system determines whether the credential for the first privilege satisfies the first set of credential requirements. If the credential satisfies this set of credential requirements, the system enables the credential to be used for access in accordance with the first privilege.

Abstract: A data storage management process is directed to aspects of managing encrypted data via data storage volumes in conjunction with a service provider computer network that hosts virtual machine instances. A volume can be created and configured for managing encrypted data with an encrypted version of a volume key. The volume can be attached to a virtual machine instance such that the virtual machine instance accesses the volume in a transparent fashion based on the volume key. Encrypted data specific to the volume can be copied across multiple regions of data storage each associated with distinct encrypted versions of a volume key corresponding to the volume.

Abstract: Technology is described for distributing an environment event stream and rendering of video for a three dimensional (3D) virtual environment using a distributed system. A method may include receiving an environment event stream from a first computing node. The environment event stream may be used by a virtual environment engine to modify a 3D virtual environment. A destination computing node for the environment event stream may be determined using a destination address stored by a broadcast repeater. Another operation may be sending the environment event stream from the broadcast repeater to the destination computing node at the destination address. In addition, a video of an environment copy of the 3D virtual environment may be rendered as modified by the environment event stream from a perspective of a virtual camera to provide rendering of the 3D virtual environment that is distributed.

Abstract: A peripheral device may implement alternative reporting of errors and other events detected at the peripheral device. A peripheral device may monitor the operations of the peripheral device for reporting events. Upon detecting a reporting event, a notification of the reporting event may be generated and sent to a remote data store. The remote data store may store the reporting event and evaluate the reporting event for a responsive action that may be performed. If a responsive action is determined, then the remote data store may direct the performance of the responsive action. The remote data store may provide access to stored reporting events for a peripheral device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing a proxied filesystem in a hosted computing environment. A provider of hosted computing services provides a filesystem proxy server. The server proxies filesystems on a client computing device utilizing the hosted computing environment, enabling the resources of the hosted computing environment to access the filesystems of the client computing device. Requests for resources in the proxied filesystem may be cached, and updates to cached resources may be communicated as a set of changes that, when applied to the cached resource, transform it into the current version of the resource. The filesystem proxy server may proxy read requests, write requests, requests for information pertaining to the filesystem, and may be implemented within a virtual machine in the hosted computing environment or as a standalone service.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing data to a mobile device from multiple access points are described. The system may include multiple access points (APs) in communication with each other to form a network of APs. The network of APs may include a logical AP (LAP) that is discoverable as an individual physical access point by a mobile device, even though the LAP may be a logical construction involving multiple physical APs that communicate with the mobile device. The system may synchronize operations within the network of APs for effective and efficient data transmissions. The mobile device may request a data connection from the LAP or from an individual AP, wherein the data connection is between at least two APs. The data connection may have a throughput/bandwidth exceeding the maximum capacity of individual APs. The LAP may manage connections between the APs and connections between the mobile device and the APs.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for processing file modifications in a networked storage system. A file is stored in a file system. If a modification listener is associated with the file, a notification that the file has been modified is sent to the modification listener. The modification listener can trigger processing of the file by executable code.
