  • Patent number: 9893972
Abstract: Systems and methods are described providing detailed input/output (I/O) metric information that is collected and gathered by an agent of the storage volume. An I/O request is received by a storage volume, and the agent associates primary and secondary identifiers with that I/O request. For example, a trace may be associated with that I/O request. The agent may store this I/O metric information in a ring buffer. Further, after collection and aggregation, statistics may be published by an I/O metric service that further processes the data provided by the agent. Advantageously, interdependent relationships associated with the I/O request or I/O operations of that request may be included in those statistics. This may allow an operator to evaluate the performance of I/O requests for a network.

  • Patent number: 9892666
Abstract: Within a particular environment, a projection that may include light or one or more patterns may be directed at one or more mirrors. The projection may be reflected by a first one of the mirrors onto the surroundings of the environment, which may include a floor, one or more walls, and/or objects in the environment having a surface. A second mirror may represent an entire view of the surroundings of the environment. As a result, by taking an image directed at the second mirror, a single image may be captured that represents a view of the entire environment without having to rotate the device that captures the image. The single image may then be utilized to generate a three-dimensional model of the environment.

  • Patent number: 9894168
Abstract: A system and method for content distribution are provided. A content provider generates a network topology having one or more subnetworks made up of content sources. The content provider segments content, such as applications, into segments for distribution. The content provider then distributes the content such that for each identified subnetwork, each content segment is distributed to a content source. Subsequent, client computing device requests for content can be serviced by selecting a content source in a particular subnetwork selected for delivering the requested content to the client computing device to minimize traffic flow of the requested content through the nodes of the distribution network.

  • Patent number: 9893957
Abstract: A resource delivery network and method for distributing content in the network is disclosed herein. The network comprises a plurality of servers arranged in tiers and partitioned. Each server includes a resource store with a set of resources for distribution to a successive tier. Updates to each successive tier are provided by a pull-forward client on servers in the tier. This forward propagation mechanism maximizes resource availability at edge servers in the network. Resources transmitted to the edge tier servers may be transformed, combined, and rendered without taxing lower tier servers. Transformation and pre-rendering of data can be performed by low priority CPU tasks at each layer of the system.

  • Patent number: 9887998
Abstract: Data may be securely stored onto a shippable data storage device in order for the client data to be protected during shipment to the remote storage service provider. The service provider prepares a shippable storage device and ships it to the client. The service provider also sends client-keys and security information to the client, separate from the shippable storage device. A client-side data transfer tool authenticates the shippable storage device using the security information. The data transfer tool generates keys to encrypt the customer data. The data transfer tool then uses the client-keys received from the service provider to encrypt the tool-generated keys. The encrypted data and the encrypted tool-generated keys are transferred onto the shippable storage device. The shippable storage device is then shipped back to the service provider, which decrypts the tool-generated keys and the encrypted data before importing the data.

  • Patent number: 9886348
Abstract: A system that implements a data storage service may store data on behalf of storage service clients. The system may maintain data in multiple replicas of partitions that are stored on respective computing nodes in the system. A master replica for a replica group may increment a membership version indicator for the group, and may propagate metadata (including the membership version indicator) indicating a membership change for the group to other members of the group. Propagating the metadata may include sending a log record containing the metadata to the other replicas to be appended to their respective logs. Once the membership change becomes durable, it may be committed. A replica attempting to become the master of a replica group may determine that another replica in the group has observed a more recent membership version, in which case logs may be synchronized or snipped, or the attempt may be abandoned.

  • Patent number: 9888037
Abstract: A client and a server negotiate a cipher suite as part of establishing a TLS connection. Cipher suites are rated with an associated level of security. In one example, the client and the server maintain a historical record that identifies the cipher suites used in previous TLS connections between the client and the server. The client and the server determine a minimally acceptable cipher suite rating based at least in part on the historical record of previously used cipher suites. If the negotiated cipher suite has a rating less than the determined minimally acceptable cipher suite rating, the TLS connection may be terminated, the cipher suite may be renegotiated, or other corrective action may be taken. In another example, the client and the server exchange digital certificates, and the digital certificates identify cipher suites for use with a TLS connection that are acceptable to the certificate owner.
