  • Publication number: 20050042766
Abstract: The invention relates to a micro fluidic system comprising a substrate, and, provided on said substrate, at least one flow path interconnecting with functional means in which liquid samples can be treated by desired procedures. The flow paths are laid out to form a pattern for the transport of liquid samples to and from said functional means. These flow paths comprise a plurality of micro posts protruding upwards from said substrate, the spacing between the micro posts being small enough to induce a capillary action in a liquid sample applied anywhere within any of said flow paths, so as to force said liquid to move from where said liquid sample was applied.

  • Patent number: 6811736
Abstract: A method of producing a plastic product having a microstructured surface (3a), utilizing an arrangement for moulding plastic products. Said arrangement has at least two mould parts (2, 3) movable towards and away from each other, a predetermined volume of a viscous polymerizable plastic material (9) being supplied to a cavity formed between the mould parts, after which polymerization of the plastic material occurs. After said polymerization of the plastic material (9′), the mould parts are caused to move apart from each other thereby allowing removal of a finished plastic product the outer shape of which conforms to the shape of the cavity produced by the mould parts. Said viscous polymerizable plastic material (9) is supplied to the cavity (6) around a hole (10a) pertaining to the finished plastic product, and said viscous plastic material is distributed in a direction from said hole (10a) towards the peripheral edge area of the plastic product.

  • Patent number: 6454970
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a matrix suitable for use in a plastic element-producing machine, a matrix produced in accordance with the method and use of such a matrix to form a plastic element. One side of the matrix is provided with a negative microstructure which is replicated in plastic material to form a positive microstructure on a plastic element, wherewith the matrix can be produced by applying a layer of material to the positive microstructure side of a master. The positive microstructure side of the master has a thin wear-resistant layer which serves as a first wear surface, wherewith said layer will present irregularities which correspond essentially to the microstructure, and wherein at least said irregularities are filled-in with a plastic composite so as to form a carrier element for supporting the first wear layer. The layer can further be provided with means for supplying heat energy to said matrix.
