  • Patent number: 5147222
Abstract: An electrical connector includes an outer shell (400) which is profiled to receive a pin housing (450) therein. The pin housing (450) has mounted therein a plurality of pins (622). The interior of the housing shell (400) is sealed by placing a grommet (624) over the end of a wire (626) and placing the terminal (622), the grommet (624) and wire (626) into the rear of the connector shell (400). To prevent the ingress of water into the shell (400), the grommet (624) includes at its exterior end, an elongate collar (624b) which, if the wire is pulled, will compress. This prevents the exterior ribs from pulling away from the aperture allowing the ingress of water.

  • Patent number: 5148383
Abstract: A digital transversal filter includes first and second shift registers. A first digital data signal is applied as an input to the first shift register and a second digital data signal, which is a phase shifted version of the first digital data signal, is applied to the second shift register. First and second clock signals are used to clock the shift registers, and these clock signals correspond in frequency but differ in phase with respect to one another. The outputs of the stages of the first and second delay lines are weighted by respective resistors which are connected to a summing node. The digital data signal has a data clocking rate, the first and second clock signals have a delay line clocking rate, and the data clocking rate is slower than the delay line clocking rate.

  • Patent number: 5147214
Abstract: An electrical connector for connecting a first printed circuit board to a second printed circuit board has terminal contacts which provide a reliable electrical connection. The contact terminals are positioned adjacent to a board receiving recess, and are configured to make an electrical connection with the second printed circuit board when the second printed circuit board is rotated to a second position. Overstress projections provided on the contact terminals cooperate with shoulders of the electrical connector to prevent contact terminals from being deformed as the second printed circuit board is moved relative to the contact terminals. Contact projections are positioned on the contact terminals proximate a resilient contact arm. The contact projections electrically engage the resilient contact arm when the second printed circuit board is in the second position.

  • Patent number: 5147215
Abstract: An electrical conductor has a dielectric housing having an elongate cable receiving cavity opening onto a rear surface thereof. The cavity extends away from the rear surface blind ending at a wall. The cavity defines a major axis between the rear surface and the wall. The cavity also defines a bottom wall extending from the rear surface to the wall. The bottom wall has rib means thereon extending into the cavity and extending from the rear face substantially to the wall means. Insulation piercing contacts are secured in contact receiving passages that extend transverse to the axis and intersect the cable receiving cavity. The passages intersect the cavity at the bottom wall proximate where the cavity blind ends. The insulation piercing contacts have a mating surface and an insulation piercing surface and are adapted to be pressed toward the cavity subsequent to insertion of insulated conductors therein.

  • Patent number: 5145411
Abstract: A dielectric insert of an electrical connector is retained within a metal shell by a plurality of latching ledges formed integrally with said insert member spaced about the periphery of the outer surface thereof and facing the trailing end during insertion into the shell member, to latchingly engage with corresponding stop surfaces defined along inside surfaces of the metal shell facing the direction opposite from the latching ledges. A lip about the periphery of the trailing end of the insert member engages the leading edge of the shell to define a second stop means, preventing insert movement in both axial directions. The insert is dimensioned for the latching projections defining the latching ledges to be compressed during insertion by bearing against the inside surfaces of the shell member until fully inserted into the shell cavity.
