Abstract: Embodiments may relate to an audio system for playback of an audio signal, for example in a motor vehicle. The audio system may include a virtualization speaker located in a position that would be in front of a listener of the audio system. The audio system may further include a user speaker located in a position that would be behind a listener of the audio system. In some embodiments the virtualization speaker may be configured to play a virtualization audio signal while the user speakers are configured to play an audio signal which at least partially overlaps the virtualization audio signal. In some embodiments the virtualization audio signal may be at a different volume or a different frequency range than the audio signal. Other embodiments may be described or claimed.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for calibrating radio frequency transmitters to compensate for common mode local oscillator leakage are provided herein. In certain configurations herein, a transmitter generates a radio frequency transmit signal based on mixing a baseband input signal with a local oscillator signal. The transmitter is calibrated to compensate for common mode local oscillator leakage. Thus, a common mode component of the local oscillator signal is reduced or eliminated from the radio frequency transmit signal, which provides a number of benefits, including lower levels of undesired emissions from the transmitter.

Abstract: According to various aspects of the present application, systems and methods are provided for implementing a garbled circuit on a device. Doing so allows the device to perform computations while protecting the computations from being observed or accessed by an adversarial entity. A garbled circuit involves two parties, known as the generator and the evaluator, jointly evaluating a function. Conventionally, a garbled circuit is executed on two different devices in order for the two different parties to jointly calculate the function without each party revealing to the other party private information such as input values to the function. Some embodiments provide for execution of the garbled circuit on a single device by implementing both parties on the device as separate processes. Some embodiments prevent an adversarial entity with physical access to the device from being able to observe calculations performed by the device to evaluate a function.
Abstract: Techniques for monitoring a distortion signal of a power amplifier circuit, where the output of a distortion monitoring circuit includes little or no fundamental signal and closely represents the actual distortion of the amplifier circuit of a wired communications system. The power amplifier circuit can generate a distortion feedback signal that does not affect the power amplifier's output power capability, e.g., no inherent loss in the fundamental output of the amplifier. That is, using a distortion monitor circuit, the power amplifier circuit can resolve a distortion feedback signal from the intended output signal of the output power amplifier circuit.

The cross-coupling of the single-ended amplifiers may provide high speed, low power consumption operation of the data isolator.
Abstract: System and apparatus for pace detection and implementation thereof. A device for detecting pace pulse in the presence of ECG waveforms is disclosed. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to an elegant, novel circuit and method for presenting pace pulse data with or without ECG signals measuring for use in useful in a variety of medical applications. This allows for robust, portable, low-power, higher S/N devices which have historically required a much bigger footprint and complexity.

Abstract: Differential electro-mechanical oscillating circuits are described. These circuits may be used in a variety of contexts to produce differential oscillating signals, such as sine waves or square waves. A switched capacitor circuit (SCC) is used to prevent low-frequency locking, whereby the output of the resonator would otherwise lock to a constant value. More specifically, the SCC provides an impedance in parallel to the resonator between the output terminals of oscillating circuit. The SCC is designed so that, at low frequencies, its impedance is lower than the impedance of the resonator. The presence of such an impedance prevents the formation of an open circuit between the output terminals, thus maintaining the oscillating circuit in the oscillation mode. The differential electro-mechanical oscillating circuits described herein may be used to produce clock signals or otherwise to produce periodic reference signals.
Abstract: A liquid crystal waveguide (LCW) can include actively controlled incoupling of light into a LCW, such as by using a voltage-controlled electrode to actively vary a property of an LC material arranged to affect the incoupling of light into the LCW. Actively varying light incoupling into the LCW can be used, for example, such as for calibration or compensation or to provide closed-loop feedback such as to stabilize the amount of light into the LCW while accommodating or reducing sensitivity of the LCW to variations in one or more of: input laser light incidence angle, input laser wavelength, LCW or input laser temperature, input laser optical power level, or the like. This can advantageously help improve or maximize light incoupling efficiency, which can improve performance and robustness of the LCW under actual operating conditions. The LCW can be used for, among other things, beamsteering in in-plane and out-of-plane directions.

Abstract: Fiber Bragg grating interrogation and sensing used for strain and temperature measurements. A simple, broadband light source is used to interrogate one or more fiber Bragg grating (FBG). Specifically, a packaged LED is coupled to fiber, the light therefrom is reflected off a uniform FBG. The reflected light is subsequently analyzed using a filter and a plurality of Si photodetectors. In particular, the filter is a chirped FBG or an optically coated filter, in accordance with some embodiments. Measurement analysis is performed by ratio of intensities at the plurality of detectors, at least in part.
Abstract: Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) systems and methods that reduce latency to improve performance. In certain embodiments the systems sample a noise signal using a sample period to create a stream of digital signal data that is representative of the noise signal. A data transport layer carries the digital signal data to a signal processor. The transport layer temporally organizes the digital signal data to place the digital signal data within an initial phase of a sample period. The remaining phase of the sample period is set to a duration that allows the signal processor to process the digital signal data carried in the initial phase and to output the processed data during the same sample period. In this way, the processing of data occurs within one sample period and the latency is reduced and predictable.

Abstract: A dither capacitor, separate from the capacitor sampling the input signal, can be used to inject the additive dither in the switched-capacitor network of the track and hold circuit. This implementation can be referred to as a split-capacitor dither injection. The dither capacitor can be connected to a summing node of the switched-capacitor network. Using a separate capacitor allows the dither to be isolated from the capacitor that is sampling the input signal and avoids kick-back errors.
Abstract: Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) devices (such as gyroscopes) configured to reject quadrature motion are described. Quadrature motion arises for example when the drive motion of a gyroscope couples to the sense motion of a gyroscope even in the absence of an angular motion. In some circumstances, quadrature motion may result from the fact that the springs used in a gyroscope have slanted sidewall, which can impart torque in the mechanics of the gyroscope. MEMS gyroscope of the type described herein may be configured to reject quadrature motion by using only springs oriented substantially parallel to the drive direction. One such spring includes only beams parallel the drive directions, and optionally. These MEMS gyroscopes may be used to sense, among others, roll and pitch angular rates.
