Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for compensating gain flatness of a transceiver including: a method for compensating gain flatness of a receiver, which compensates gain flatness of a receiving channel by using a complex-coefficient FIR filter in digital domain; and a method for compensating gain flatness of a transmitter, which compensates gain flatness of a transmitting channel by using a complex-coefficient FIR filter in digital domain. The method according to the present disclosure can balance compensation accuracy and calculation amount flexibly, and can focus on compensating the gain flatness at an edge of a frequency band, obtaining good performance with less calculation amount.

Abstract: Embodiments provide system and methods for a DDoS service using a mix of mitigation systems (also called scrubbing centers) and non-mitigation systems. The non-mitigation systems are less expensive and thus can be placed at or near a customer's network resource (e.g., a computer, cluster of computers, or entire network). Under normal conditions, traffic for a customer's resource can go through a mitigation system or a non-mitigation system. When an attack is detected, traffic that would have otherwise gone through a non-mitigation system is re-routed to a mitigation system. Thus, the non-mitigation systems can be used to reduce latency and provide more efficient access to the customer's network resource during normal conditions. Since the non-mitigation servers are not equipped to respond to an attack, the non-mitigation systems are not used during an attack, thereby still providing protection to the customer network resource using the mitigation systems.

Abstract: A method and system for planning and running video-on-demand (VOD) advertising includes a planner for planning advertising campaigns and an ad selector for running selected advertisements from selected ones of the campaigns. The campaigns are associated with household demographic classifications, video content category categories, household geographic locations, and/or video viewing times. In response to a viewer requesting a video, the selector selects the campaigns corresponding to the demographic classification associated with the viewer, the content category of the requested video, the geographic location associated with the viewer, and/or the viewing time at which the requested video is viewed. The demographic classification is determined by using an identifier of the viewer's set-top-box. The selector may select the campaigns corresponding to the content categories of the requested video. The content categories are determined by using an identifier associated with the requested video.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for automatically configuring, managing, updating, and/or monitoring the configuration of various computing resources and/or network devices within a communications network, such as a telecommunications network. Configuration code may be deployed to a repository for a cluster of computing resources and one or more layers may be defined describing configurable aspects of the cluster. Subsequently, a script may be identified and executed to configure the cluster based on the configuration code.
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for determining similarities in content preferences among a plurality of users and generating content recommendations based on a requesting user's content consumption history. A requesting user may access the recommendation system to request content items for consumption. The recommendation system may be configured to identify users having consumed the same or similar content items as the requesting user, and to determine a ratio of content items consumed by the requesting user and an identified user to the total number of content items previously consumed by the requesting user. In one embodiment, the system may determine a degree of similarity in content preferences between the two users based on an inverse proportion of a level of popularity associated with the content items consumed by the requesting user and the identified user (e.g., sampled user).
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a content (e.g., media) transfer or fling platform system and method. In a media fling platform system, media items may be cached at a rendering device prior to any selection of media items to fling. The determination of which media to cache may be based on a variety of factors including a user fling history, a currently viewed media item, and a navigation point in the media files. A fling request may take priority over caching, and the fling request may interrupt any caching processes.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-computer-readable storage media for repairing a Network Element (NE) to transport data within a network. When a NE on the network encounters an error, such as a port not receiving data, that NE will issue an alarm. Unlike previous mechanisms for resolving the alarm, systems configured according to this disclosure provide for an automatic mechanism to repair the alarm. In some instances, this can mean automatically deploying resources to re-connect the NE according to a network plan. In other instances this can mean verifying the status of the NE matches a planned status (i.e., that the loss of signal, and the subsequent alarm, were planned for). If neither of these actions resolves the problems of the NE, the system can issue a notification for a network engineer to perform maintenance on the NE.
