Abstract: Presented are intelligent vehicle communications systems for cellular link monitoring and failure detection, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems. A method for operating a wireless-enabled vehicle component of a motor vehicle includes a cellular communications device of the vehicle component detecting an uplink (or downlink) network data packet transmitted by (or to) the vehicle. An electronic vehicle controller then establishes an observation period as a function of the time at which the network data packet was transmitted. The opposite downlink (or uplink) of the wireless-enabled vehicle component is monitored to determine if a downlink (or uplink) network data packet is received within the observation period, thereby indicating detection of a cellular link failure.

Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating communication between a core network and a wireless terminal in an upper first-level protocol unit (UL1) of a radio access network (RAN) as disclosed. An upper first level protocol unit (UL1) performs a first portion of a first-level protocol of the RAN in a first apparatus and communicates over a fronthaul link with a lower first-level protocol unit (LL1). The LL1 is in a second apparatus separate from the first apparatus. A communication quality parameter for communication between the first apparatus and the LL1 is determined, and a message related to the communication quality parameter is sent by the UL1 to an entity of the RAN other than the LL1.

Abstract: A vehicle power testing system is described. The power testing system may provide power testing that displays maximum simultaneous power usage for multiple auxiliary devices drawing power from the vehicle power generation system over a span of time. The power testing system may initialize a power test using a simple user interface, determine a number of auxiliary devices predicted to be connected to the power generation system at a future time, and generate a power simulation profile for the multiple connected auxiliary devices. The power testing system may generate an indication of maximum aggregate power usage and an alert message indicating that multiple auxiliary devices may be simultaneously used while connected to the vehicle power generation system based on an aggregate power rating associated with the vehicle power generation system.
