Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for dynamically sampling training elements while training a plurality of machine learning models. The systems and methods access a plurality of training elements and generate an element buffer including a specified number of positions. The systems and methods generate a random value for each position for the element buffer and map a training element of the plurality of training elements to each position within the element buffer in a first order. The systems and methods generate a second order for the training elements and allocate the training elements to a plurality of machine learning models according to the second order.

Abstract: An imaging waveguide for a visual display includes a substrate for guiding image light therein by total internal reflection (TIR). An input grating is supported by the substrate for coupling the image light into the imaging waveguide. An output grating is supported by the substrate and spaced apart from the input grating for coupling the image light guided in the substrate out of the imaging waveguide for observation by a user. A gap filling overcoat is formed on and within the output grating, but not on or within the input grating. The material is characterized by a refractive index between 1.40 and 1.80 at 500 nm, absorption between 0% and 1% in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum, and % haze between 0% and 0.2% in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Abstract: A privacy display comprises a liquid crystal spatial light modulator, a switchable retarder and a passive compensation retarder arranged between a pair of polarisers. In a privacy mode of operation, on-axis light from the spatial light modulator is directed without change of image contrast, whereas off-axis light has reduced contrast to reduce the visibility of the display to off-axis snoopers over a wide polar angular range. In a wide angle mode of operation, the retardance of the switchable retarder is adjusted so that off-axis contrast is substantially unmodified.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a system and a method. In example implementations, the system and the method can include receiving an image having a first perspective; generating, via a deep neural network, a depth map corresponding to the image having the first perspective; generating, via the deep neural network, a point cloud representation based on the depth map; projecting the point cloud representation onto a point cloud representation corresponding to an image having a second perspective; generating a depth map corresponding to the image having the second perspective; and generating a synthetic image having the second perspective based on the depth map corresponding to the image having the second perspective and a semantic segmentation map corresponding to the image having the first perspective, wherein the second perspective is different from the first perspective.

Abstract: A telecommunications cable jacket insertion system operates to insert a telecommunication cable into a jacket after the jacket has been separately extruded. The system includes a jacket having structures for easily inserting a cable therein over a long distance in a field location. The system can further include a tool for facilitating the insertion of the cable into the jacket. Further, a cabling system includes a cable assembly that is disaggregated into a robust outer jacketing portion and a manageable fiber optic cable portion. For regions of a cable installation where a robust cable construction is desired, the manageable fiber optic cable portion is sheathed or otherwise contained within the robust outer jacketing portion. For regions of a cable installation where a robust cable construction is not needed, the manageable fiber optic cable portion extends beyond or outside of the robust outer jacketing portion.

Abstract: A method for execution by a query processing system includes determining a first set of query rules for first data received from a first data provider and to determine a second set of query rules for second data received from a second data provider. A query received from a requesting entity is determined to involve at least one query function that accesses a subset of the first data. Compliance data is generated by determining whether the query complies with the first set of query rules. When the compliance data indicates the query complies with the first set of query rules, a query result is for the query based on execution of the query, and the query result is transmitted to the requesting entity. The query result is not transmitted to the requesting entity when the compliance data indicates the query does not comply with the first set of query rules.

Abstract: Methods and systems for managing data transmissions are disclosed. An example method can comprise determining a plurality of time allocations for a time cycle. The plurality of time allocations can comprise a first time allocation which can be determined based on an information rate, a committed information rate, an excess information rate, an effective bandwidth rate, other factors, or a combination thereof. Data can be received from multiple sources into a buffer, for example, and can be processed within a time cycle if processing the data will not exceed the time allocation.

Abstract: A system and method for providing assisted safety to an operator of a vehicle using a head-mounted display that provides displayed content and a see-through view of a surrounding environment, includes determining whether the operator is looking through the windshield of the vehicle or is not looking through the windshield, if the user is looking through the windshield, preventing displayed content from being provided within a display field of view of the head-mounted display, thereby providing an unencumbered see-through view of the surrounding environment, if the user is not looking through the windshield, providing displayed content for viewing by the user within the display field of view, and if important information relating to the safety of the vehicle is detected by a system associated with the vehicle while the user is looking not looking through the windshield, interrupting the displayed content and providing an alert to the operator.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining retention periods or policies for backups are disclosed. A rule book stores relationships between rules and recommended retention periods. Data related to a backup is collected and organized. A query is generated from the organized data and used to identify a rule from the rule book. The retention period corresponding to the identified rule in the rule book is then applied to the corresponding backup.

Abstract: A hole cutter is provided for a thermoforming packaging machine. The hole cutter uses a single actuator to move a row of film-cutting punches between extended and retracted positions for cutting holes and corresponding chads in a marginal film area of a web of thermoformed product packages.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds, compositions, and methods for brightening skin. The compounds, compositions, and methods of the present invention generally involve compounds produced by a Malassezia yeast, and chemical analogs thereof. In addition to skin brightening applications, the compounds, compositions, and methods of the present invention may be used to modulate melanocyte activity, induce melanocyte apoptosis, agonize an arylhydrocarbon receptor (AhR), improve hyperpigmentation caused by a hyperpigmentation disorder, and modulate melanin production, melanosome biogenesis, and melanosome transfer.

Abstract: An agricultural baler includes a baling chamber and a pre-compression chamber. The pre-compression chamber is configured to gather crop material and to periodically form a slice of the crop material and introduce the slice into the baling chamber. The baling chamber includes a plunger provided for moving in the baling chamber thereby compressing slices of crop material into a bale. The agricultural baler further includes multiple sensors and a controller configured for controlling operation of the agricultural baler based on inputs of the multiple sensors. A first subset of the multiple sensors is directly related to bale parameters, and a second subset of the multiple sensors is indirectly related to the bale parameters. The controller is configured to control the operation of the agricultural baler and calibrate the sensors of the second subset based on outputs of sensors of the first subset.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices, methods, and computer-readable medium for saving and restoring physical hardware states and virtual machine (VM) states for an application actively being executed on a virtual machine by a user on a computer device. The devices, methods, and computer-readable medium may allow a user to suspend a current state of an application session and save the VM and memory state to persistent storage, and later resume the execution of the saved application session by reading the state back into memory and restoring the VM state.
