  • Patent number: 10218185
Abstract: A device for switching a semiconductor-based switch includes a terminal that is configured to be connected to a control terminal of the semiconductor-based switch. A controllable deactivation voltage source connected to the terminal is configured to provide, at least temporarily, a switching potential at a potential node. A control device is configured to control the controllable deactivation voltage source in a time-varying manner, such that the controllable deactivation voltage source provides the switching potential at the potential node during a switching interval. The switching potential is galvanically coupled to a supply node to which a supply potential of the control device is applied and has a lower potential value than a threshold voltage of the semiconductor-based switch. The control device is configured to control the controllable deactivation voltage source.

  • Patent number: 10206054
Abstract: In processing a multi-channel audio signal having at least three original channels, a first downmix channel and a second downmix channel are provided, which are derived from the original channels. For a selected original channel of the original channels, channel side information are calculated such that a downmix channel or a combined downmix channel including the first and the second downmix channels, when weighted using the channel side information, results in an approximation of the selected original channel. The channel side information and the first and second downmix channels form output data to be transmitted to a decoder, which, in case of a low level decoder only decodes the first and second downmix channels or, in case of a high level decoder provides a full multi-channel audio signal based on the downmix channels and the channel side information.

  • Patent number: 10204631
Abstract: The MPEG2 Advanced Audio Coder (AAC) standard limits the number of filters used to either one filter for a “short” block or three filters for a “long” block. In cases where the need for additional filters is present but the limit of permissible filters has been reached, the remaining frequency spectra are simply not covered by TNS. Two solutions are proposed to deploy TNS filters in order to get the entire spectrum of the signal into TNS. The first method involves a filter bridging technique and complies with the current AAC standard. The second method involves a filter clustering technique. Although the second method is both more efficient and accurate in capturing the temporal structure of the time signal, it is not AAC standard compliant. Thus, a new syntax for packing filter information derived using the second method for transmission to a receiver is also outlined.

  • Patent number: 10205958
Abstract: A more efficient co-use of dynamic range mapping on the one hand and temporal prediction on the other hand such as, for example, in order to code HDR frame sequences, is achieved by exploiting the concept of weighted prediction in order to transition from the mapping parameter from the reference frame to the currently temporally predicted frame. By this measure, the temporal prediction does not fail and despite the frame-wise variation in the dynamic range mapping, encoding efficiency is, thus, maintained. As a favorable side aspect, weighted temporal prediction is already within the capabilities of existing video coding stages such as, for example, the H.264/AVC.

  • Publication number: 20190032250
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a precursor fiber which is suitable for further processing into carbon and activated carbon fibers. The method is a wet spinning method in which a spinning solution consisting of lignin or lignin derivatives, cellulose carbamate, and alkali lye are pressed through the holes of a nozzle and introduced directly into a coagulation bath. The precursor fibers falling into the bath can undergo different additional method steps: they can be stretched, post-treated, dried at an increased temperature, and wound. Because the precursor fibers constitute an inexpensive starting material, the precursor fibers can be used in connection with the production of carbon and activated carbon fibers.
