Patent number: 12099695Abstract: Some examples of the disclosure are directed to systems and methods for managing locations of users in a spatial group within a communication session based on the display of shared content in a three-dimensional environment. In some examples, a first electronic device and a second electronic device are in communication within a communication session. In some examples, the first electronic device displays a three-dimensional environment including an avatar corresponding to a user of the second electronic device. In some examples, in response to detecting an input corresponding to a request to display shared content in the three-dimensional environment, if the shared content is a first type of content, the first electronic positions the avatar a first distance away from the viewpoint, and if the shared content is a second type of content, the first electronic device positions the avatar a second distance away from the viewpoint.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2024Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Connor A. Patent number: 12100106Abstract: In one implementation, a method involves tessellating a surface of a 3D object by identifying vertices having 3D positions. The method transforms the 3D positions into positions for a first sphere-based projection for a left eye viewpoint and positions for a second sphere-based projection for a right eye viewpoint. Transforming the 3D positions of the vertices involves transforming the vertices based on a user orientation (i.e., camera position) and differences left and right eye viewpoints (e.g., based on interaxial distance and convergence angle). The method further renders a stereoscopic 360° rendering of the 3D object based on the first sphere-based projection for the left eye viewpoint and the second sphere-based projection for the right eye viewpoint. For example, an equirectangular representation of the first sphere-based projection can be combined with an equirectangular representation of the second sphere-based projection to provide a file defining a stereoscopic 360° image.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2022Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Stuart M. Patent number: 12101645Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for using group based reporting for beam management in a 5G wireless communications system. A user equipment (UE) can determine based on a signal-to-interference-plus noise ratio (SINR) or reference signal received power (RSRP) measurement, a ranking of two or more beam combinations, and transmit the ranking to a 5G node B (gNB). The UE can receive from the gNB, a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) codepoint that identifies a combination of two or more beams, where the TCI codepoint is based at least on the ranking. The UE can receive simultaneous transmissions via the combination, and transmit a report to the gNB that identifies by the TCI codepoint, SINRs that corresponds to the combination. In some embodiments the UE can simultaneously transmit on a second combination identified by a sounding reference signal (SRS) resource indicator (SRI) codepoint.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2020Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Haitong Sun, Chunhai Yao, Chunxuan Ye, Dawei Zhang, Hong He, Jia Tang, Oghenekome Oteri, Pengkai Zhao, Tianyan Pu, Wei Zeng, Wei Zhang, Weidong Yang, Yeong-Sun Hwang, Yuchul Kim, Yushu Zhang

Patent number: 12099653Abstract: Various implementations provide views of 3D environments (e.g., extended reality (XR) environments). Non-eye-based user activity, such as hand gestures, is associated with some types of eye-based activity, such as the user gazing at a particular user interface component displayed within a view of a 3D environment. For example, a user's pinching hand gesture may be associated with the user gazing at a particular user interface component, such as a button, at around the same time as the pinching hand gesture is made. These associated behaviors (e.g., the pinch and gaze at the button) may then be interpreted as user input, e.g., user input selecting or otherwise acting upon that user interface component. In some implementations, non-eye-based user activity is only associated with types of eye-based user activity that are likely to correspond to a user perceiving what they are seeing and/or intentionally looking at something.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2023Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Vinay Chawda, Mehmet N. Patent number: 12101180Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for high power operation in user equipment. The user equipment may indicate to a network high power capability of the user equipment. Based on an uplink signal strength of the user equipment, the network may send a command to the user equipment to transmit using the high power user equipment (HPUE) operation in half-duplex frequency division duplex (HD-FDD) mode. The network may also send a signal for the user equipment to return to a default power mode based on the uplink signal strength. The user equipment may then reconfigure to the default power in full-duplex frequency division duplex (FD-FDD) mode. The user equipment may also send an indication of an uplink duty cycle which indicates the ratio of uplink allocations corresponding to uplink transmissions relative to total uplink and downlink allocations.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2021Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Anatoliy Sergey Ioffe, Elmar Wagner, Fucheng Wang

Patent number: 12099683Abstract: Acoustic touch and/or force sensing system architectures and methods for acoustic touch and/or force sensing can be used to detect a position of an object touching a surface and an amount of force applied to the surface by the object. The position and/or an applied force can be determined using time-of-flight (TOF) techniques, for example. Acoustic touch sensing can utilize transducers (e.g., piezoelectric) to simultaneously transmit ultrasonic waves along a surface and through a thickness of a deformable material. The location of the object and the applied force can be determined based on the amount of time elapsing between the transmission of the waves and receipt of the reflected waves. In some examples, an acoustic touch sensing system can be insensitive to water contact on the device surface, and thus acoustic touch sensing can be used for touch sensing in devices that may become wet or fully submerged in water.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2023Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Marduke Yousefpor, Mohammad Yeke Yazdandoost, Aaron Scott Tucker, Marcus Yip, Ehsan Khajeh, Brian Michael King, Giovanni Gozzini
