Abstract: This Application describes mechanisms to transfer cellular service plans and associated credentials efficiently between wireless devices. Information regarding transferability of cellular services for SIMs/eSIMs to a wireless device are obtained from locally stored or remotely accessible cellular service information and/or associated mobile network operator (MNO) information. Access to network-based servers to determine transferability and/or to effect transfer can use non-cellular connections when available. Transferability information can be presented to a user to narrow selection of cellular service plans to transfer.

Abstract: Systems and processes for operating a digital assistant are provided. In an example process, low-latency operation of a digital assistant is provided. In this example, natural language processing, task flow processing, dialogue flow processing, speech synthesis, or any combination thereof can be at least partially performed while awaiting detection of a speech end-point condition. Upon detection of a speech end-point condition, results obtained from performing the operations can be presented to the user. In another example, robust operation of a digital assistant is provided. In this example, task flow processing by the digital assistant can include selecting a candidate task flow from a plurality of candidate task flows based on determined task flow scores. The task flow scores can be based on speech recognition confidence scores, intent confidence scores, flow parameter scores, or any combination thereof. The selected candidate task flow is executed and corresponding results presented to the user.

Abstract: A method for operating a voice trigger is provided. In some implementations, the method is performed at an electronic device including one or more processors and memory storing instructions for execution by the one or more processors. The method includes receiving a sound input. The sound input may correspond to a spoken word or phrase, or a portion thereof. The method includes determining whether at least a portion of the sound input corresponds to a predetermined type of sound, such as a human voice. The method includes, upon a determination that at least a portion of the sound input corresponds to the predetermined type, determining whether the sound input includes predetermined content, such as a predetermined trigger word or phrase. The method also includes, upon a determination that the sound input includes the predetermined content, initiating a speech-based service, such as a voice-based digital assistant.

Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform power control for uplink (UL) reference signals (RS). A UE may determine spatial configuration for UL RS based on another communication. A UE may determine an updated pathloss within a reduced implementation following an update of downlink (DL) RS. A UE may reset a power control factor in response to receiving an update.
Abstract: Techniques for encoding video with motion compensation include a compressed bitstream syntax that includes a list of all motion prediction reference frames without distinguishing between short-term reference frame and long-term reference frames. The list of reference frames may be provided in a slice header and may apply to encoded data video data within the corresponding slice. The list may be prefaced with a single number indicating the total number of reference frames. In an aspect delta POC reference numbers may be encoded with a flag indicating the sign of the delta POC when the absolute value of the POC is not equal to zero. In another aspect, a flag may be encoded for every reference frame indicating if POC information should be used when scaling prediction references, and a weighting parameter may be included when POC information should be used.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments include a system having a first wireless audio output device configured to connect to a source device via a first piconet and a second wireless audio output device configured to connect to the first wireless audio output device via a second piconet. A schedule of the first piconet includes a plurality of slots associated with an audio packet, a first subset of the slots used by the source device to transmit the audio packet, the first and second wireless audio output devices tuning to the first piconet to listen for the transmissions of the audio packet, and when, after a last one of the first subset of slots, the first or second wireless audio output devices did not receive the audio packet, the first and second wireless audio output devices exchange information via the second piconet such that the both wireless audio output device receive the audio packet.

Abstract: A device for MR/VR systems that includes a two-dimensional array of cameras that capture images of respective portions of a scene. The cameras are positioned along a spherical surface so that the cameras have adjacent fields of view. The entrance pupils of the cameras are positioned at or near the user's eye while the cameras also form optimized images at the sensor. Methods for reducing the number of cameras in an array, as well as methods for reducing the number of pixels read from the array and processed by the pipeline, are also described.

Abstract: An electronic device, such as a watch, has a variable friction mechanism for providing variable frictional feedback as an input mechanism, such as a crown, is rotated. The variable frictional feedback may correspond to operational states, events, or other conditions at the electronic watch. The variable frictional feedback may be provided by changing a frictional force between the crown and the variable friction mechanism. The variable friction mechanism may include a friction element adapted to contact a shaft of the crown and an actuator adapted to change a frictional force between the friction element and the shaft.
Abstract: A foldable electronic device may bend about a bend axis. A foldable display panel may be configured to bend along the bend axis as the foldable device is folded. A display cover layer may overlap the display panel. The display panel may have an array of pixels configured to display an image viewable through the display cover layer. The display cover layer may be formed from a layer of glass. A recess may be formed in the layer of glass that runs parallel to the bend axis and that overlaps the bend axis. The recess forms a flexible locally thinned portion in the glass that allows the display cover layer to bend. A rough surface texture and polymer coating may be provided in the recess. The recess may have shallowly sloping walls.

Abstract: Wearable head-mounted displays, such as virtual reality systems, present immersive experiences and environments to a wearer. However, the head-mounted displays, as well as the immersive environments that they produce, limit the wearer's ability to interact with outside observers. For example, a wearer may not be able to see outside observers, and outside observers may not have any insight to what the wearer is experiencing or where the wearer's attention is directed. Accordingly, a wearable electronic device may include an outward-facing display configured to display information to outside observers, such as images of the wearer's face or images that represent or indicate the state of the wearer and/or the head mounted display.

Abstract: One implementation involves a device receiving a stream of pixel events output by an event camera. The device derives an input image by accumulating pixel events for multiple event camera pixels. The device generates a gaze characteristic using the derived input image as input to a neural network trained to determine the gaze characteristic. The neural network is configured in multiple stages. The first stage of the neural network is configured to determine an initial gaze characteristic, e.g., an initial pupil center, using reduced resolution input(s). The second stage of the neural network is configured to determine adjustments to the initial gaze characteristic using location-focused input(s), e.g., using only a small input image centered around the initial pupil center. The determinations at each stage are thus efficiently made using relatively compact neural network configurations. The device tracks a gaze of the eye based on the gaze characteristic.
