Patent number: 11842615Abstract: In an example method, a mobile device obtains a signal indicating an acceleration measured by a sensor over a time period. The mobile device determines an impact experienced by the user based on the signal. The mobile device also determines, based on the signal, one or more first motion characteristics of the user during a time prior to the impact, and one or more second motion characteristics of the user during a time after the impact. The mobile device determines that the user has fallen based on the impact, the one or more first motion characteristics of the user, and the one or more second motion characteristics of the user, and in response, generates a notification indicating that the user has fallen.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Xing Tan, Huayu Ding, Parisa Dehleh Hossein Zadeh, Harshavardhan Mylapilli, Hung A. Patent number: 11841926Abstract: Embodiments relate to an image processing circuit able to perform image fusion on received images in a first mode for fusing demosaiced and downscaled image data, and a second mode for fusing raw image data. In the first mode, raw image data received from an image sensor is demosaiced and resampled prior to undergoing image fusion. On the other hand, in the second raw image mode, the image processing circuit performs image fusion on the raw image data, and demosaics and resamples the generated fused raw image. The image processing circuit comprises an image fusion circuit that processes images of received image pyramids differently, based on whether the first or second mode is being run. The image fusion circuit further comprises an additional alpha-blending circuit allowing for the image fusion circuit to perform a fusion and an alpha-blending in a single pass through image fusion circuit.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Maxim Smirnov, Kaiming Liu

Patent number: 11841510Abstract: Point to point transmission holograms are used to provide a scene camera for an augmented reality glasses display system. A glass or plastic substrate acts as spectacle style lens. A holographic medium is applied to a surface of the substrate, within which is recorded a series of point to point transmission holograms. The construction points of the holograms are arranged at the eye and at the pupil of a camera placed, ideally, to the temple side of the user's eye. The recorded transmission holograms act by diffracting a portion of the light from the scene surrounding the user that is heading for the user's eye towards the scene camera. The hologram efficiency is balanced so that the user is still able to see the surrounding scene. The perspective of the view seen by the scene camera is substantially identical to that seen by the user through the lens.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2022Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Richard J. Patent number: 11843683Abstract: Methods and apparatus for active queue management in user space networking stacks. Unlike prior art monolithic networking stacks, the exemplary networking stack architecture described hereinafter includes various components that span multiple domains (both in-kernel, and non-kernel). For example, unlike traditional “socket” based communication, disclosed embodiments can transfer data directly between the kernel and user space domains. Additionally, user space networking stacks require a new flow control methodology that is responsive to networking congestion and/or packet loss. For example, embodiments of the present disclosure introduce a flow advisory table that may, for example, utilize an eventing methodology for active queue management in addition to, or alternatively then, legacy active queue management. Exemplary systems can support multiple networking protocol stack instances (including an in-kernel traditional network stack) as well as flow advisory tables (and legacy active queue management).Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2019Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Cahya Adiansyah Masputra, Sandeep Nair, Darrin Jewell

Patent number: 11843443Abstract: Methods, devices, and apparatus to adapt operating parameters for satellite signal reception and transmission by a wireless device to mitigate effects of fading due to specular reflections are described herein. The wireless device measures received signal power levels and compares characteristics of the measurements over an observation duration to at least one fading criteria to determine whether to operate in a normal or adaptive mode. While operating in the adaptive mode, the wireless device alternates between high performance mode time periods and low performance mode time periods. The wireless device indicates to a ground station associated with the satellite in which operating mode the wireless device is operating via an uplink data message transmitted during a data cycle at the start of a high or low performance mode time period. The ground station schedules data transmissions accordingly during subsequent data cycles of the high or low performance mode time periods.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Dhruv Khati, Shiva Krishna Narra, Sudhir K.
