  • Patent number: 11762547
Abstract: A portable electronic device for instant messaging is disclosed. One aspect of the invention involves a graphical user interface (GUI) on a portable electronic device with a touch screen display. The GUI has a set of messages exchanged between a user of the device and another person. The set of messages are displayed in a chronological order. In response to detecting a scrolling gesture comprising a substantially vertical movement of a user contact with the touch screen display, the display of messages are scrolled in accordance with a direction of the scrolling gesture. The detecting of the scrolling gesture is substantially independent of a horizontal position of the user contact with the touch screen display.

  • Patent number: 11762490
Abstract: An electronic device may have a display with an active area configured to display images and an inactive area that is free of pixels and that does not display images. Touch sensor sense lines may have portions located in the active area and portions located in the inactive area. The active and inactive areas may be characterized by respective reflectivity values. To match the reflectivities of the active and inactive areas and thereby avoid undesired visually distinguishable differences in the appearances of these areas, the touch sensor circuitry in the inactive areas may be configured to match the reflectivity values of the active and inactive areas. Sense line portions in the inactive area may have metal traces of enhanced reflectivity and/or uneven surface topology to enhance ambient light reflections through a circular polarizer that overlaps the active and inactive areas.

  • Patent number: 11762619
Abstract: In some exemplary processes for controlling an external device using a computer-generated reality interface, information specifying a function of the external device is received from the external device. First image data of a physical environment that includes the external device is obtained with one or more image sensors. A representation of the physical environment according to the first image data is displayed on a display. While displaying the representation of the physical environment, second image data identifying a gesture occurring between the display and the external device in the physical environment is obtained with the one or more image sensors. A determination is made as to whether the identified gesture satisfies one or more predetermined criteria associated with the function. In accordance with determining that the identified gesture satisfies one or more predetermined criteria associated with the function, the external device is caused to perform the function.

  • Patent number: 11763971
Abstract: Disclosed herein are reluctance actuators and methods for feedback control of their applied force. Embodiments of the reluctance actuators include an electromagnet positioned to deflect a metallic plate to provide a haptic output. The control of the force is provided without force sensors (sensorless control) by monitoring voltage and/or current (V/I) applied during an actuation. For a given intended force output, an electrical parameter value (flux, current, or other parameter) is read from a look up table (LUT). The LUT may store a present value of the inductance of the reluctance actuator. The feedback control may be a quasi-static control in which the LUT is updated after actuation based on the monitored V/I. The feedback control may be real-time, with a controller comparing an estimated electrical parameter value based on the measured V/I with the value from the LUT.

  • Patent number: 11765333
Abstract: An immersive video experience can include a path between a plurality of keyframes selected by the filmmaker. A viewer can be given control of the view in the immersive video experience to provide the viewer freedom to look around and explore the scene. To improve user experience, after the user adjusts the perspective of the immersive video to depart from a filmmaker's defined perspective, the perspective can be returned to resume the filmmaker's defined perspective to avoid the viewer missing important parts of the immersive video. Additionally, the user experience can be improved by having the return from the user-adjusted perspective to the filmmaker's defined perspective include a visually pleasing transition that does not require further user input.

  • Patent number: 11765668
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for providing maximum transmit power control when utilizing multiple radio access technologies. For example, a wireless communication device comprising two cellular radios may intend to transmit on the first radio, while concurrently transmitting on the second radio. To ensure compliance with a maximum transmit power limitation, the device may determine an allowed transmit power level of the first radio, representing a difference between the maximum transmit power limitation and the current transmit power level being transmitted by the second radio. The device may also determine a threshold power level for a communication by the first radio. If the allowed transmit power level meets the threshold power level, then the device may transmit the first communication having a power level between the threshold power level and the allowed transmit power level. Otherwise, the device may forego transmission of the first communication.
