  • Patent number: 11601743
Abstract: Ear buds may have sensors to gather orientation information such as accelerometer measurements during user movements. A host electronic device may communicate wirelessly with the ear buds and may form part of an ear bud system that supplies the user with coaching and feedback while evaluating user performance of a head movement routine or other exercise routine. During operation, the ear buds may gather accelerometer data in a first reference frame such as a reference frame associated with the ear buds and may use a rotation matrix to rotate the data in the first reference frame into a second reference frame such as a neutral reference frame with a fixed orientation to the earth. The data in the neutral reference frame may be analyzed using a user head pose look-up table to categorize measured user head positions as corresponding to respective user head poses.

  • Patent number: 11598985
Abstract: A system such as a vehicle, building, or electronic device system may have a support structure with one or more windows. The support structure and window may separate an interior region within the system from a surrounding exterior region. Control circuitry may receive input such as user input and may adjust an adjustable layer in the window based on the input. The adjustable layer may have a polymer matrix layer with embedded cells. The cells may include intermixed guest-host liquid crystal cells and liquid crystal cells. The guest-host liquid crystal cells and liquid crystal cells may have different liquid crystal materials and/or different sizes that allow the guest-host liquid crystal cells and liquid crystal cells to electrically switch states at different respective threshold voltages. Based on the user input or other input the control circuitry can adjust a drive signal across the adjustable layer to change light transmittance and haze.

  • Publication number: 20230068475
Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for facilitating frequency hopping for physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) communications in 5G wireless communication systems. When inter-slot and/or inter-repetition frequency hopping is used, user equipment (UE) may transmit a first portion of symbols in a first slot using a first transmission frequency indicated by a frequency domain resource allocation. The UE may transmit a second portion of symbols in a second slot using a second offset frequency. When intra-repetition frequency hopping is used and the symbols are segmented, the UE may disable the intra-repetition frequency hopping and transmit the segmented portion of symbols using a particular transmission frequency indicated by the frequency domain resource allocation. When intra-repetition frequency hopping is used and the symbols are non-segmented, the UE may apply frequency hopping to divide a portion of symbols for transmission within a repetition.

  • Publication number: 20230066493
Abstract: Some aspects relate to apparatuses and methods for selecting a receiving beam based on hybrid channel based beamforming and codebook based beamforming. A user equipment (UE) can determine, based on a first measurement related to signal to noise ratio (SNR) and predetermined threshold values, whether the UE is in a low SNR state. If the UE is in a low SRN state, the UE can derive an estimated channel covariance matrix RCH for channels at a set of antenna elements of the UE based on channel based beamforming (CHBF). Afterwards, a set of test beams {0, . . . Ntest?1} is selected based on the channel covariance matrix RCH, and a set of codebook measurement beams is further selected based on the set of test beams. A receiving beam is selected based on a set of measurements performed on the set of codebook measurement beams at the measurement opportunity for codebook based beamforming (CBBF).

  • Patent number: 11594190
Abstract: A display may have an array of pixels such as liquid crystal display pixels. The display may include short pixel rows that span only partially across the display and full-width pixel rows that span the width of the display. The gate lines coupled to the short pixel rows may extend into the inactive area of the display. Supplemental gate line loading structures may be located in the inactive area of the display to increase loading on the gate lines that are coupled to short pixel rows. The supplemental gate line loading structures may include data lines and doped polysilicon that overlap the gate lines in the inactive area. In displays that combine display and touch functionality into a thin-film transistor layer, supplemental loading structures may be used in the inactive area to increase loading on common voltage lines that are coupled to short rows of common voltage pads.
