Patent number: 11195247Abstract: An electronic image capture device captures a first image of a scene at a first time. A first local tone mapping operator for a first portion of the first image is determined. The electronic image capture device further captures a second image of the scene at a second time. A motion of the electronic device between the first time and the second time is determined. A second local tone mapping operator for a second portion of the second image is determined. The second portion is determined to correspond to the first portion based, at least in part, on the determined motion of the electronic device. The second local tone mapping operator is determined based, at least in part, on the first local tone mapping operator. At least the second local tone mapping operator is applied to the second portion of the second image.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Henryk K. Patent number: 11197331Abstract: A communication device (UE) conducting wired and/or wireless communications may issue service requests using zero-round-trip-time (zero-RTT) connectivity. The UE may obtain, prior to initiating an application, an address corresponding to a service and a security credential for use in accessing the service. The UE may receive, after initiating the application, an instruction to issue a service request, and generate the service request that may include a service identifier corresponding to the service, the address corresponding to the service, and the security credential for use in accessing the service. The UE may then transmit the service request to an edge server associated with the service. The edge server may route the service according to the service identifier. Multiple data centers/servers may advertise their services to the edge server associated with the service, facilitating fast routing of the service request by the edge server associated with the service.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2016Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Christopher M. Patent number: 11196011Abstract: A display may have an array of organic light-emitting diodes that form an active area on a flexible substrate. Metal traces may extend between the active area and an inactive area of the flexible substrate. Display driver circuitry such as a display driver integrated circuit may be coupled to the inactive area. The metal traces may extend across a bend region in the flexible substrate. The flexible substrate may be bent in the bend region. The flexible substrate may be made of a thin flexible material to reduce metal trace bending stress. Patent number: 11194423Abstract: A system and method for autonomously scanning a sensor panel device is disclosed. A sensor panel processor can be disabled after a first predetermined amount of time has elapsed without the sensor panel device sensing any events. One or more system clocks can also be disabled to conserve power. While the processor and one or more system clocks are disabled, the sensor panel device can periodically autonomously scan the sensor panel for touch activity. If one or more results from the autonomous scans exceed a threshold, the sensor panel device re-enables the processor and one or more clocks to actively scan the sensor panel. If the threshold is not exceeded, the sensor panel device continues to periodically autonomously scan the sensor panel without intervention from the processor. The sensor panel device can periodically perform calibration functions to account for any drift that may be present in the system.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Christoph H. Patent number: 11194391Abstract: The present disclosure relates to electronic devices that include displays that show dynamic foveated content. For example, portions of the content may be shown in different resolutions on different areas of the display based on a user's gaze that can be monitored with an eye tracker. Based on eye tracking data collected by the eye tracker, a processor of the electronic device may stop or slow the transmission of pixel data associated with one or more frames of the content. Additionally, the processor may generate pixel data such that the display may gradually transition from employing dynamic foveation to employing static foveation.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2018Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Sheng Zhang, Chaohao Wang

Patent number: 11196436Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing hybrid non-linearity correction for a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) are described. A circuit includes two correction LUTs, an edge-trim DAC, and a DAC core. A lookup of a first correction LUT is performed using a portion of the most significant bits (MSBs) of a received digital input value. A first correction value, retrieved from the first correction LUT, is applied to the digital input value to generate a corrected value. The corrected value is provided to the DAC core and to a second correction LUT. A second correction value, retrieved from the second correction LUT, is compared to the first correction value. If the second correction value is different from the first correction value, the difference is provided to the edge-trim DAC to generate an analog correction which is applied to an analog output of the DAC core.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Dusan Stepanovic, KiYoung Nam, Mansour Keramat

Patent number: 11196435Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing an anti-aliasing technique for a time-to-digital converter are described. A pulse generator generates a pulse with a width that is representative of a voltage level of a supply voltage. A buffer chain receives the pulse from the pulse generator. A first sum is calculated by adding together a number of one bits in a first portion of the buffer chain. Also, a second sum is calculated by adding together a number of one bits in a second portion of the buffer chain. Then, a third sum is calculated by adding the first sum to the second sum if the first sum is saturated. Otherwise, the third sum is equal to the first sum if the first sum is not saturated. The third sum is used as a representation of the voltage level of the supply voltage.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Pangjie Xu, Jelam K. Patent number: 11197235Abstract: A method for low overhead system information acquisition (LOSIA) is disclosed. The LOSIA method includes several techniques for transmitting common channels in a next generation Radio Access Technology (xRAT). Instead of transmitting system information in a periodic, static, cell-specific, wideband manner, the transmission is triggered by user equipment in an “on demand” manner. The LOSIA method allows the network to control the overhead, bandwidth, and periodicity, as well as other characteristics. The LOSIA method employs several different techniques to trigger the information upon which the network can act, for example, by transmitting different payloads depending on the received trigger.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2020Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Ralf Bendlin, Gang Xiong, Jong-Kae Fwu, Yujian Zhang

Patent number: 11196943Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for editing captured media to overcome operational difficulties that may arise during capture operations. According to these techniques, content may be captured with a pair of cameras, a first camera having a wider field of view than a second camera. Object(s) may be detected from captured content from the wider field of view camera. The captured content may be processed from the wider field of view camera in a location of at least one detected object. Typically, operators may attempt to frame content using content from the narrower field of view camera. As a result, operators may be unaware that desired content is captured using a second, wider field of view camera. Results from the processed wider field of view data may be proposed to operators for review and, if desired, retention.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2019Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Shuang Gao, Vasilios E. Patent number: 11196644Abstract: Media content is provided using metric-apportioning. In accordance with one or more embodiments, remote-user interface circuits are authenticated and remote access is provided to different sets of media content via the interface. For each authenticated interface and a time-based period during which the interface accesses the media content, time-stamped usage data that characterizes use of the media content at the interface is communicated therewith. A usage metric characterizing usage of the media content is apportioned based upon the time-stamped usage data and stored weighting factor data for the media content.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2018Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Keith Barraclough, David Irvine, Melanie Larson, Morgan P.
