  • Patent number: 8257645
Abstract: Presented are an insulation brick and the method of using an insulation brick to create a thermal lining. A set of corrugations are formed into a sidewall of the brick to increase the thermal insulation. A first end of the insulation brick has a convex portion while the second end of the insulation brick has a convex portion. This allows a first insulation brick to mate with another brick in an end to end configuration.

  • Patent number: 8241442
Abstract: A method of making a hypereutectoid, head-hardened steel rail is provided that includes a step of head hardening a steel rail having a composition containing 0.86-1.00 wt % carbon, 0.40-0.75 wt % manganese, 0.40-1.00 wt % silicon, 0.05-0.15 wt % vanadium, 0.015-0.030 wt % titanium, and sufficient nitrogen to react with the titanium to form titanium nitride. Head hardening is conducted at a cooling rate that, if plotted on a graph with xy-coordinates with the x-axis representing cooling time in seconds, and the y-axis representing temperature in Celsius of the surface of the head of the steel rail, is maintained in a region between an upper cooling rate boundary plot defined by an upper line connecting xy-coordinates (0 s, 775° C.), (20 s, 670° C.), and (110 s, 550° C.) and a lower cooling rate boundary plot defined by a lower line connecting xy-coordinates (0 s, 750° C.), (20 s, 610° C.), and (110 s, 500° C.).

  • Publication number: 20120090515
Abstract: The invention mainly relates to a process for recycling blast furnace gas in which at least one portion of the gases resulting from the blast furnace undergo a CO2 purification step so as to create a CO-rich gas which is reinjected at a first top injection point located above the base of the blast furnace at a temperature between 700° C. and 1000° C. through a top injection line, and at a second bottom injection point at the base of the blast furnace at a temperature between 1000° C. and 1300° C. through a bottom injection line, in which the gases from the bottom and top injection lines are heated by means of heaters from which the gases emerge at a temperature between 1000° C. and 1300° C. The process of the invention is essentially characterized in that a portion of the CO-rich gas (18) exiting the purification step is directly introduced into the top injection line (21) via a cold gas injection line (35) in order to obtain a temperature between 700° C. and 1000° C.
