Abstract: A balancing spring system for facilitating the opening and the closing of a window sash assembly slidably mounted in channels of opposed window jambs comprises a connector strip. The connector strip has a front surface and a rear surface. The connector strip also has slots extending from the front surface to the rear surface. The connector strip has a connecting head section at a bottom thereof, adapted for connection to the window sash assembly. Curled ribbon springs are adapted to be mounted idle and free to rotate in each of the channels of the window jambs. The curled ribbon springs each have a free end comprising an enlarged head portion at a tip thereof, for connecting the curled ribbon springs to the slots of the connector strip, whereby the curled ribbon springs apply an upward force to the window sash assembly.

Abstract: The link auto-configuration protocol detects the topology of a dynamic synchronous transfer mode (DTM) architecture, detects and translates MAC addresses and negotiates configuration parameters in the DTM topology. The link auto-configuration protocol has at least three phases including a detect phase to detect information about the nodes in the network, an announcement phase to provide and negotiate configuration parameters with the nodes in the network and a commit phase to commit the nodes to the configuration parameters. The protocol may automatically switch between ring and bus topology configurations.

Abstract: The open joint wall panel system includes panels having a standardized shape attached to an extrudable track that, in turn, is attached to an exterior wall. Each panel is vertically positioned using dead load anchors and positioned relative to the exterior wall with anchor clips.
Abstract: The mini-optical light shelf daylighting system is implemented in the paradigm of a window treatment that is applicable to both new installations as well as existing window glazing. In particular, the mini-optical light shelf is a passive, static optical device which receives incident daylight transmitted through a window and efficiently redirects it uniformly onto the interior ceiling surface in a diffuse manner, thereby creating a useful source of interior illumination. The mini-optical light shelf comprises multiple shelves, each of which contains an identical optically shaped top surface to allow light to be efficiently collected and accurately directed onto the ceiling surface. The optical shelves are narrow and can be implemented in the paradigm of a window treatment. The window area is partitioned into a view related glazing section and a daylight collection and redirection glazing area.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a tire for a conventional rim, having two exterior sidewalls and two interior walls, and an annular tread portion with a center, an interior and an exterior surface. The first and second sidewalls extend radially from the tread portion. Each sidewall has a perimeter edge which is sized and configured to be coupled to a wheel hub. The first and second interior walls extend from substantially near the perimeter edge of the first and second sidewalls, respectively, to a predetermined location on the interior surface of the tread portion. The first and second interior walls being attached to the tread portion to transfer loads applied to the tire by alternatively flexing and compressing in response to the loads applied to the tire.
Abstract: An astragal used with exterior double door installations, such as french doors. When attached to the edge of the generally inactive door, the astragal provides a door stop for the active door, a seal to prevent intrusion of water, and a lock for the inactive door. The invention particularly pertains to extruded metal astragals capable of increasing the resistance of the double door system to high wind conditions. The astragal comprises a longitudinally extending base member that has at least one longitudinally extending channel and a pair of spaced apart outwardly extending legs. At least one bolt is slidably inserted in the channel adjacent to one of the first and second ends of the channel. The astragal is attached to the door by at least one cleat whose spaced apart arms engage the legs of the base member providing resistance to the astragal rocking in relation to the door edge when the doors are under wind forces.
Abstract: Atomic memory operations are provided by using exportable “fetch and add” instructions and by emulating IA-32 instructions prepended with a lock prefix. In accordance with the present invention, a CPU includes a default control register that includes IA-32 lock check enable bit (LC) that when set to “1”, causes an IA-32 atomic memory reference to raise an IA-32 intercept lock fault. An IA-32 intercept lock fault handler branches to appropriate code to atomically emulate the instruction. Furthermore, the present invention defines an exportable fetch and add (FETCHADD) instruction that reads a memory location indexed by a first register, places the contents read from the memory location into a second register, increments the value read from the memory location, and stores the sum back to the memory location.

Abstract: A wall system including a plurality of rectangular rigid prefinished panels mounted on a wall support structure with main runners and cross runners. The main runners serve to lock the panels onto the support structure and with the cross runners serve to prevent the panels from warping due to adverse moisture conditions. The main runners are configured to space the panels from the wall support structure to encourage uniform humidity conditions at the front and rear of the panels. Clips that secure the panels to the main runners are fixed adjacent the top and bottom panel edges at different setoffs to obtain an advantageous nesting of panels for reduced packaging volume.

Abstract: A flush bolt mechanism for use in connection with a pair of swingable doors to provide latch bolt engagement between the free ends of those doors. The flush bolt mechanism includes a generally flat frame or plate adapted to be mounted on a flat frame or plate adapted to be mounted flush on one of the free ends of the swingable doors, and a support bracket mounted on the back thereof. The support bracket provides a means for mounting an adjustment bracket thereon in reciprocal position thereon. A trigger mechanism is also mounted in reciprocal position on the support bracket so as to extend through the flush mounted plate. The trigger mechanism and the adjustment bracket are mounted on the flat plate and the support bracket to be reciprocally moved toward the plate and away from the plate in continuous adjustment to provide for adjusting the extended position of the trigger means mounted on the adjustment bracket.
