Abstract: A portable lighting system is disclosed. The portable lighting system includes at least one light-emitting source, a power-generating source, a power storage device, and a processing system for controlling and managing power-generated by the power-generating source that are all are integrated into a flexible-layered structure. The flexible-layered structure is a layered structure of woven or non-woven, natural or made-made fibers that have been joined using sewing, sonic-welding or heat lamination manufacturing techniques. Materials for the flexible-layered structure include woven textiles, non-woven materials, flexible plastics, natural leather materials, artificial leather materials, reflective flexible materials, opaque flexible materials, translucent flexible materials, light-diffusing materials, and specular reflective materials.
Abstract: A movable acoustic shell assembly comprises a ground-supported crane and an acoustic shell mounted on the ground-supported crane. The crane is configured to move in a self-propelled and self-directed manner between a storage position and an in-use position within a performing arts venue. When the crane is in the in-use position, the sound shell substantially encloses a rear portion of a stage within the performing arts venue.

Abstract: A system is described for dynamically generating an application-specific, system-level privilege profile that describes the aggregate exercise of system-level privileges by a plurality of software application instances. In particular, the system includes a plurality of client computing devices for capturing empirical information relating to the exercise of privileges by the plurality of software application instances executing on top of a plurality of instances of a platforms residing within the plurality of client devices. The plurality of client devices each uploads the empirical information to an EPP server, which is also included within the system. The empirical privilege profiler system dynamically generates the profile based the empirical information. In this way, the system may facilitate adherence to the Principle of Least Privilege by revealing system-level privilege use by an application, monitoring of system-level privilege use, and detection of system intrusions.
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing security to a protected network. Techniques are described for thwarting attempted network attacks using marked information. The attack correlation system provides marked information to computing devices that probe for sensitive information, and monitors subsequent communications for use of the marked information. In one example, the attack correlation system reroutes communications containing the marked information to a dedicated vulnerable device that logs the communications to monitor the attackers' methods. The attack correlation system may also include functionality to exchange information regarding attempted attacks with other attack correlation systems to gain broader knowledge of attacks throughout one or more networks.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a glass barrier system including at least one post adapted to support at least one piece of glass above a base structure, such as a concrete slab or a masonry wall. The post is connected with a support member extending from the base structure. In one embodiment, aluminum posts are supported by steel members embedded into and extending from concrete so as to suspend the aluminum posts above the concrete. Some embodiments of the present invention also utilize a glazing bead to help hold the glass in place with respect to the posts. The glass barrier system can also include a rail connected with the glass.
Abstract: A mounting bracket for a prefabricated column assembly comprising a column having an external wall and an internal wall defining a channel for receiving a mounting post, the mounting bracket configured to be received by the channel having a body defining a hole for receivingly engaging the mounting post and having a peripheral edge. The peripheral edge defining a slot for receiving an elongated support strip for providing a lateral support anchor for the column assembly.
Abstract: Techniques are described for generating and actively verifying a boot code associated with a peripheral device of a computer system to prevent potential security threats the boot code may introduce into the computer system. The techniques for generating boot code entail generating the boot code from a high-level programming language using a verification application program interface (API). The API aids in generating a certificate, which is associated with the boot code in that the certificate describes operation of the boot code. After generating the boot code and associated certificate, the two are loaded onto a memory module of the peripheral device. Once the peripheral device is connected to the computer system, the computer system may retrieve the boot code and certificate. The computer system utilizes techniques to actively verify the boot code by performing a security check on the boot code in accordance with the associated certificate.

Abstract: A thermally insulated frame member includes first and second elongate frame components (10, 12), an elongate thermally insulating material bridge component (14) securing the first and second elongate frame components (10, 12) to one another to define an elongate open channel, and a resin material (22) located within the channel.
Abstract: Kinoform diffusers (82) exhibit controllable diffusion characteristics that include off-axis transmittance and reflectance properties, elimination of zero-order beam, and freedom from spectral dispersion under achromatic illumination. Light control devices (76, 80, 82) implemented with kinoform diffusers having controllable diffusion characteristics provide anisotropic luminous intensity distributions and glare control at high viewing angles while maintaining high luminaire efficiency or daylight utilization.
