  • Patent number: 11233716
Abstract: In an electronic monitoring system, a base station can identify missing video and/or audio (“media”) packets from a recording device by detecting gaps between sequence numbers corresponding to media packets received in an encoded media stream. The base station can efficiently avoid individually acknowledging every media packet received from the recording device. However, when missing media packets are identified, the base station can queue non-contiguous sequence numbers for the missing media packets for requesting re-transmission from the recording device in a single message. The base station can request such re-transmission during regular report intervals providing statistics and/or control information, and/or in between such intervals in application-specific messages, subject to a guard time. If the recording device still has at least one missing media packet in an egress queue, the recording device can accordingly re-transmit the missing media packet.

  • Patent number: 11159772
Abstract: An electronic doorbell system can be configured to allow simultaneous video and audio communication to a user on a computing device in which the video is provided by a camera that is selected from among multiple available cameras provided at different locations, while the audio is provided by a microphone of the doorbell system such as a microphone associated with the doorbell or a selected camera. User input can allow selection of one or more cameras. When multiple cameras are selected, the system can take an audio/video feed from the cameras in predetermined sequence or random sequence based on events observed by the system The camera could be selected by default, based on user input, and/or automatically using artificial intelligence. Selection by artificial intelligence could comprise, for example, selecting a camera based on a detected motion and/or sound, a captured image matching a predetermined image and/or a captured sound matching a predetermined sound.

  • Patent number: 11145171
Abstract: An electronic doorbell system can be configured to enable remote audio communications between a visitor at the doorbell and a user of a mobile computing device by exchanging speech-to-text and/or text-to-speech messages in real time. Audio captured by the visitor can be transcribed into text messages and sent to the user of the mobile device using a speech-to-text service. The user of the mobile device can send text messages to the doorbell for playback to the visitor by using a text-to-speech service. The system can also use artificial intelligence to detect the language spoken by the visitor for translating between a predetermined language of the user and the language of the visitor. The system can also include a camera for capturing video of the visitor for display to the mobile device simultaneous with exchanging text messages between the visitor and the user, such as during a live Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) communication.

  • Patent number: 11079659
Abstract: An outdoors consumer electronics device such as a camera contains electrical equipment this is isolated from exterior moisture. The consumer electronics device includes a housing configured to contain the electrical equipment, a seal mounted to the housing, and a cover that is releasably installable onto the housing. The seal includes a top surface that forms an inclined plane related to a bottom plane extending through the bottom edges of the seal. When the cover is installed onto the housing, the seal is compressed along a planar surface. Once the seal is compressed, moisture is prevented from entering the interior of the housing. While the seal that is formed when the cover is mounted to the housing is planar, the sealed area is non-planar.

  • Patent number: 11064208
Abstract: The disclosure is related to adaptive transcoding of video streams from a camera. A camera system includes a camera and a base station connected to each other in a first communication network, which can be a wireless network. When a user requests to view a video from the camera, the base station obtains a video stream from the camera, transcodes the video stream, based on one or more input parameters, to generate a transcoded video stream, and transmits the transcoded video stream to a user device. The base station can transcode the video stream locally, e.g., within the base station, or in a cloud network based on transcoding location factors. Further, the camera system can also determine whether to stream the video to the user directly from the base station or from the cloud network based on streaming location factors.

  • Patent number: 11048151
Abstract: An angularly adjustable mounting device is disclosed for use with a small electronic device such as a wireless camera. Also disclosed is a method of using the mounting device. The mounting device has an attachment device extending from a rotatable bearing. The bearing is angularly rotatable with a socket formed by an expandable bearing holder that may include spaced apart arms extending outwardly from a mounting plate. Rotation of an outer housing around the arms engages an inclined ramp thereby deflecting the arms inwardly and into frictional contact bearing to inhibit movement of the camera relative to a base. The outer housing is configured to rotate in an opposing direction to allow the electronic device to be repositioned.
