Patents Assigned to Arlo Technologies, Inc.
  • Patent number: 10938649
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for adjusting the parameters in a network-connected security system based on analysis of content generated by electronic devices in the network-connected security system. In an example embodiment, content such as video captured by a video surveillance camera is processed to analyze the performance of the network-connected security system. Based on the processing, updated parameters are selected to configure and improve the performance of the network-connected security system.

  • Patent number: 10869005
Abstract: A system for electronic monitoring includes a doorbell configured to immediately call a user following the occurrence of a trigger event, such as a doorbell button push or detection of motion or sound. The system reduces latency by omitting push notifications to the user, which require the user to open an application program on a device, and instead proceeds to immediately call the user's device following the trigger event. The call can be a telephone call enabled by a wirelessly connected base station or hub making a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) call to the user's mobile device. In one aspect, a video stream captured by a camera positioned separately from the doorbell (for providing an optimum viewing angle of a visitor) can be synchronized by the base station with an audio stream captured by a microphone of the doorbell for communicating a synchronized media stream near instantaneously to the user while the user returns an audio stream to the doorbell during a phone call.

  • Patent number: 10855996
Abstract: A technique is described for selecting an encoder to encode video captured by a network-connected camera system based on characteristics of deployment of the network connected cameras system. The network-connected camera system may include one or more cameras and a base station connected to each other via a network, which can be a wireless network. A processing system, for example at the base station, receives data indicative of characteristics of deployment of the network-connected camera system, processes, the received data to select an encoder, and causes the one or more cameras to process captured video using the selected encoder. In some embodiments, encoder selections can be continually updated based on changes in the deployment of the network-connected camera system.

  • Patent number: 10839659
Abstract: In an electronic video monitoring system for security and surveillance, a recording device can improve image quality, particularly in a night mode, while conserving battery power, by repeatedly activating an infrared (IR) light while capturing a video image, then deactivating the IR light and activating a visible light while capturing another video image, then blending the captured images to produce a blended video image. The blended video image can provide color in a foreground for improved detail where such detail is typically most important and grayscale in a background for effective monitoring of a broad field of view. The IR and visible lights can be controlled by Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) signals having duty cycles which can differ in various modes to achieve differing effects.

  • Patent number: 10718996
Abstract: An electrical pathway is formed between a receiving port located on an outer surface of the casing and the electronic device module received therein, such that a power supply may pass from a power connector that is magnetically attached to the port, to the electronic device module via the intermediate casing. The casing and electronic device modules further cooperate to form a module separation assembly that may be activated to remove or eject the electronic device module from within the casing.

  • Patent number: 10659514
Abstract: In an electronic video monitoring system for security and surveillance, a recording device can adaptively change a bit rate at which a video stream is transmitted so that image quality is prioritized, including above maintaining a continuous real-time transmission. In this way, image quality suitable for security and surveillance can be guaranteed close to real-time, despite changes in video transmission requirements and/or network demands. In one aspect, a frame rate can be lowered to no less than a minimum frame rate, a resolution can be lowered to no less than a minimum resolution, and the frame rate and resolution can be lowered to the minimum frame rate and the minimum resolution, respectively, before allowing an increase of compression of the video stream in view of the change in video transmission requirements and/or network demands. This allows sustaining image quality suitable for security and surveillance.

  • Patent number: 10629039
Abstract: An approximate physical geographic location (geolocation) of a video monitoring system for security and/or surveillance can be determined with high confidence by co-locating the monitoring system and a mobile device on a common local network and associating a sensed geolocation of the mobile device with the monitoring system. The monitoring system and mobile device may be wireless Local Area Network (LAN) devices connected to a single router for accessing an application server through a Wide Area Network (WAN). The mobile device may connect to a Global Positioning System (GPS) for sensing the geolocation. This process can be used to determine where the monitoring system is physically installed by a user for providing support. An alarm initiated by the monitoring system can comprise dispatch of emergency services to the geolocation.
