Publication number: 20080040896Abstract: An improved disposable restraining device having hinged flexible straps for improved strength and to promote safe tightening of the restraining device around a detainee's arms or wrists. The hinges of the flexible straps enable the straps to bend at a specific predefined point such that the straps tighten in a manner that better conforms to the shape of the detainee's arms or wrists. By permitting the straps to tighten in this manner, the hinges provide added strength to the restraining device and ensure that there are no open areas under the straps that would squeeze or pinch a portion of the detainee's arms or wrists in a manner that would cause unintended injury to the detainee, or which would enable the detainee to turn or otherwise manipulate his hands or wrists in a manner that would allow him to slip out of the restraints.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2006Publication date: February 21, 2008Applicant: ARMAMENT SYSTEMS AND PROCEDURES, INC.Inventor: Kevin L. Patent number: 7331872Abstract: A scabbard and method of using, for a baton used by security and police-personnel is provided. The scabbard includes a baton holding element and means to attach the scabbard to a user's belt. The attachment means permits the user to adjust the angle at which the baton is held and permits the angle to be fixed so that the user need not readjust the position each time that the scabbard is worn. The scabbard also can adjusted for use with belts of different widths; and uses deep socket hex screws that provide greater strength in connection and little interference with clothing so that damage does not occur. The method describes the manner in which the provided scabbard can be used.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2006Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: Armament Systems and Procedures, Inc.Inventor: Kevin L. Patent number: 7316137Abstract: The handcuff assembly includes a bow pivotally connected to a cheek plate frame assembly which includes a base frame. A removable lockset assembly for locking a pawl relative to ratchet teeth on the bow and including a slideable lock bar is received in the base frame. The lock bar has a lock setting slot therethrough for receiving an actuating pin to move the lock bar from a single lockposition to a double lock position. A key receiving structure on each side of the lockset assembly is provided for receiving a key and enabling the key to turned in one direction only for first unlocking a double-lock, which prevents movement of the bow in either direction and for secondly, completely unlocking the handcuff by moving the pawl away from the bow and against a spring mechanism. The lock bar has a color that contrasts with the color of the frame of the handcuff to indicate any one of several things, such as type of lock mechanism and a status of the lock bar.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2005Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: Armament Systems and Procedures, Inc.Inventor: Kevin Parsons

Publication number: 20070056332Abstract: A rigid handcuff assembly is disclosed that includes a pair of handcuff bracelets adapted to be releasably applied to a person's wrists. The handcuff bracelets include cheek plate assemblies that are pivotally interconnected to a connecting block that includes locking mechanism enabling movement of the handcuff bracelets between folded positions disposed in overlying juxtaposed relation, and positions wherein the handcuffs are automatically locked in rigid substantially coplanar aligned relation. The interconnected cheek plate assemblies define a handgrip when disposed in rigid aligned relation. The handgrip has structural indicia thereon adapted to be sensed by the user's hand, such as a raised palm swell surface sensed by the palm of a user's hand, and thumb sensing indicia disposed in predetermined relation to the user's thumb when gripping the handcuff, thereby enabling predetermined orientation and manipulation of the rigid handcuffs without direct eye contact with the handcuff assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2005Publication date: March 15, 2007Applicant: Armament Systems & Procedures, Inc.Inventors: Kevin Parsons, Lestor Stener
