  • Patent number: 6893488
Abstract: A printing compound suitable for recording unique surface characteristics of an object such as a person's finger, palm or foot, tire tread or shoe sole, on a porous medium such as paper, is composed of (1) a composition, e.g., printer's ink, capable of delineating such surface characteristics when transferred to the porous medium by itself or in conjunction with a separate reagent and (2) a sufficient amount of water dispersable nonionic surfactant to render the composition substantially soluble in water without adversely affecting the ability of the composition to delineate the surface characteristics when transferred to the porous medium.

  • Patent number: 6881440
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved protective composition and method. The preferred protective composition uses near equal amounts by weight or volume of a pre-polymer and curative; however up to three to one amounts of pre-polymer to curative are consistent with the composition and method of the invention. The mixture is applied by a portable spray apparatus using a mixing spray nozzle. For temporary protective coatings using the present invention a releasing agent is applied to the surface to be sealed. The present invention is ideally suited to protect bath tubs, whirlpools, shower stalls, shower pans, tile, marble, glass, metal, hardwoods, other smooth, non-porous surfaces, and the like. The resulting protective coat from the present invention is impenetrable to ladders, boots, sheet rock, mud, paint, dirt, metal pieces, rocks, gravel, sand, grime which might accompany work on or around the protected surface.

  • Patent number: 6841188
Abstract: A method of developing latent fingerprints involves the preparation of an 8-quinolinol complex by mixing a solution of 8-hydroxyquinoline or a derivative with a complexing reagent such as a metal salt. The solution is then applied to a porous substrate, such as paper, containing the latent fingerprint where the soluble complex is adsorbed onto the surface of the latent print and precipitates thereon. The unadsorbed solution is then removed from the substrate allowing the precipitate to highlight the latent image. The choice of the complexing reagent will determine the color of the precipitate and whether or not it is flourescent.

  • Patent number: 6761108
Abstract: A pressing mold for receiving a foodstuff, such as ham pieces, as it is being cooked and pressed in a hermetically sealed wrap, comprises a cover to press the foodstuff being cooked and to allow the foodstuff to expel an exudate. The mold comprises at least one transverse partition bounding, inside the mold, a main pouch of the wrap. The main pouch carries the foodstuff. The wrap includes at least one lateral pouch connected to the main pouch by a bridge including passages through which the exudate flows during cooking. The lateral pouch fits into a space in the mold between the partition and an end wall of the mold. A space is provided between the upper edge of each partition and a cover of the mold. The space is such as to prevent pinching of the passages during cooking and pressing of the foodstuff.
