Abstract: A method for implementing a full waveform inversion (FWI) process using angle gathers includes; receiving observed seismic data associated with a subsurface region and captured by one or more seismic receivers, constructing based on the observed seismic data, a scalar velocity model and one or more vector velocity model partitions, where the one or more vector velocity model partitions correspond to one or more unique seismic angles. The method further includes determining one or more vector gradients using the scalar velocity model and the observed seismic data, and updating the one or more vector velocity model partitions using the one or more vector gradients.

Abstract: Bioactive coatings that include a base and a protein associated with the base for actively promoting the removal of organic stains are provided. In aspects, bioactive coatings that are stabilized against inactivation by weathering are provided including a base associated with a chemically modified enzyme, and, optionally a first polyoxyethylene present in the base and independent of the enzyme. The coatings are optionally overlayered onto a substrate to form an active coating facilitating the removal of organic stains or organic material from food, insects, or the environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for routing communication among a plurality of devices are described. In an example, a controller can detect a communication initiated from a first device to a target device among a second device and a third device. The controller can identify the second device as the target device. The controller can, in response to identifying the second device as the target device, activate a direct communication path between the first device and the second device to allow the first device to communicate with the second device using direct communication mode. The controller can, in response to identifying the second device as the target device, activate redriver path between the first device and the third device to allow the first device to communicate with the third device using redriver mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for data storage for a subject vehicle and include receiving data items at the subject vehicle data from a plurality of data sources and determining whether a data item received from one of the plurality of data sources is redundant with a data item already captured by the subject vehicle. Abstract: Recyclable films having a first layer containing a polyethylene, a second layer containing a high-density polyethylene and a hydrocarbon resin, and a third layer containing a polyethylene may be used for thermoforming packaging components. Both the first and third layers have an overall density between about 0.92 g/cm3 and 0.97 g/cm3. The film structure is advantageous as it can be more easily thermoformed than traditional high-density polyethylene films and can maintain the shape taken during thermoforming, exhibiting minimal warping or shrinking.
Abstract: A spherical plain bearing includes an outer ring and an inner ring that are each coaxial with a longitudinal axis of the bearing. The outer ring has a first axial outer ring end, a second axial outer ring end, and an interior spherical concave bearing surface extending therebetween. The inner ring has a first axial inner ring end, a second axial inner ring end, and an interior cylindrical bearing surface defining a bore and an exterior spherical convex bearing surface extending therebetween. The exterior spherical convex bearing surface is in interfacial sliding engagement with the interior spherical concave bearing surface. A plurality of circumferential lubrication grooves and one or more curved lubrication channels are in the exterior spherical convex bearing surface. The curved lubrication channels are positioned to intersect each of the circumferential lubrication grooves. A plurality of profiled annular lubrication grooves circumferentially extend into the interior cylindrical bearing surface.
Abstract: A vehicle is provided with an integrated and removable traction device, such as a tread board. The traction device may be integrated into a bumper of the vehicle. When mounted/installed on the bumper, the traction device can act as a cover to a storage unit implemented in the bumper. When removed, the traction device can be placed under a wheel of the vehicle to provide increased traction on certain surfaces. By integrating the traction device into the vehicle's bumper area, the traction device need not occupy, e.g., interior storage space of the vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of preparing a furan derivative comprising the steps of (a) converting a monosaccharide to provide a keto-intermediate product; and (b) dehydrating the keto-intermediate product to provide a furan derivative; wherein the keto-intermediate product is pre-disposed to forming keto-furanose tautomers in solution. Abstract: A method for analyzing a rock sample includes segmenting a digital image volume corresponding to an image of the rock sample, to associate voxels in the digital image volume with a plurality of rock fabrics of the rock sample. The method also includes identifying a set of digital planes through the digital image volume. The set of digital planes intersects with each of the plurality of rock fabrics. The method further includes machining the rock sample to expose physical faces that correspond to the identified digital planes, performing scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging of the physical faces to generate two-dimensional (2D) SEM images of the physical faces, and performing image processing on the SEM images to determine a material property associated with each of the rock fabrics.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sensing system that, in a preferred embodiment, can be readily integrated into load-lifting structures (such as wings and landing gears) to provide real-time DPHM and obviate/mitigate catastrophic problems. Broadly, the present sensing system combines at least one shim portion with at least one nanogenerator such as a TENG or a PENG. A major advantage of the present sensing system is that it combines in a single structure the following functions: (a) gap management in the component in which the sensing system is installed, (b) collection/storage of measured data for the component in which the sensing system is installed, (c) harvesting/storing energy from operation environment of the component in which the sensing system is installed (e.g., DPHM data when the present sensing system is used for assessment of an aircraft's structural conditions), and (d) wireless transmission of measured data for the component in which the sensing system is installed to a user interface.
Abstract: A permanent magnet rotor core includes a plurality of rotor poles circumferentially-spaced about a central axis and including a first rotor pole and an adjacent second rotor pole that each include an outer wall, and wherein the rotor core includes a rotor diameter. The rotor core also includes a plurality of radial apertures alternately-spaced with the plurality of rotor poles. The rotor core also includes a first protrusion extending from the first rotor pole into a first radial aperture of the plurality of radial apertures positioned between the first rotor pole and the second rotor pole. The rotor core further includes a second protrusion extending from the second rotor pole into the first radial aperture such that a circumferential opening is defined between the first protrusion and the second protrusion. The opening extends a first length of between approximately 0.052% and approximately 0.058% of the rotor diameter.
