    Abstract: A frame-attached transparent plate is produced by injection-molding a frame in a mold for injection molding, opening the mold, and projecting the frame in an arched form corresponding to a curvature of a glass plate to press the frame to only a surface of a peripheral portion of the glass plate so as to bond the frame to the peripheral portion of the glass plate. With this, the shape in cross section of the frame can optionally be selected even when the glass plate has a curved portion, and problems such as a poor dimensional accuracy, a poor bonding strength, a poor appearance and so on of the frame can be eliminated.

    Abstract: A vacuum degassing apparatus for molten glass according to the present invention comprises a vacuum housing where a vacuum is created; a vacuum degassing vessel housed in the vacuum housing to degas the molten glass; an introduction device communicated to the vacuum degassing vessel so as to introduce untreated molten glass into the vacuum degassing vessel, or preferably an uprising pipe; and a discharge device to discharge treated molten glass from the vacuum degassing vessel, or preferably a downfalling pipe. In the apparatus, at least a portion of at least one of the vacuum degassing vessel, the uprising pipe and the downfalling pipe that directly contact with the molten glass is constituted by refractory material having a porosity of not greater than 5%. The apparatus can increase quantity of flow of the molten glass and consequently a degassing throughput of the molten glass in comparison with prior art, having the same size and the same pressure loss.

    Abstract: A quenching method and apparatus for tempering a glass sheet. The method includes a step of transferring a heated glass sheet between quenching boxes which are provided with nozzles opposingly arranged near upper and lower surfaces of the glass sheet to blow air streams of cooling air supplied from the quenching boxes to the glass sheet. The method also includes the step of arranging the nozzles extending from the quenching boxes so as to face at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the glass sheet so that openings on the end of the nozzles blow the air streams of the cooling air in different directions simultaneously so as to intersect and thus be substantially uniformly arranged with respect to the glass sheet. The number of intersections is approximately 30 or more in any 10 cm square area of the glass sheet. The end portions of the nozzles have a semi-spherical shape.
