  • Patent number: 10589064
Abstract: A balloon catheter having a distal-end tip which, even if caught in a stenosis, will not break apart from a distal end of an inner shaft of the balloon catheter when the balloon catheter is forcibly rotated or pulled by an operator. The distal-end tip of the balloon catheter is fixed to the distal end of the inner shaft, and a connecting tube covers an outer surface of the distal end of the inner shaft and a proximal end of the distal-end tip. An inwardly protruding portion of the connecting tube is embedded into the distal-end tip. This creates an anchoring effect and increases a welding area between an outer surface of the distal-end tip and an inner surface of the connecting tube, thereby reducing a risk that the distal-end tip will break apart from the distal end of the inner shaft.

  • Publication number: 20200030573
Abstract: A catheter includes a tubular inner layer, a reinforcing layer disposed at least partially within the inner layer or on an outer circumference of the inner layer, and an outer layer. The reinforcing member is made of wound wires, each adjacent pair of the wires having a gap therebetween. A bonding portion is disposed in the gap of the reinforcing layer and includes an inner layer protruding portion of the inner layer that extends into the outer layer and is engaged with an outer layer protruding portion of the outer layer that extends into the inner layer. This configuration enlarges the area across which the outer layer and the inner layer are bonded to each other within the gap of the reinforcing layer, leading to a strengthened bond between the outer layer and the inner layer.

  • Patent number: 10493234
Abstract: A catheter has excellent torque transmissivity and excellent flexibility, thus enabling easy insertion of the catheter into a blocked portion of a blood vessel. Additionally, the catheter easily restores to its original form even when the catheter is curved and deformed a large amount. Thus, a break at a border area between a catheter main body part and a distal end tip is prevented when the catheter is bent and deformed. This improves the operability of the catheter with a combination device such as a guide wire. The catheter includes a hollow coil body formed of at least one helically wound stranded wire. The at least stranded wire includes a plurality of wires wound into a helical structure.
