  • Patent number: 9705811
Abstract: A method for receiving a packet descriptor associated with a packet and a queue number indicating a queue stored within a memory unit, determining a priority level of the packet and an amount of free memory available in the memory unit. Applying a global drop probability to generate a global drop indicator and applying a queue drop probability to generate a queue drop indicator. The global drop probability is a function of the amount of free memory. The queue drop probability is a function of instantaneous queue depth or drop precedence value. The packet is transmitted whenever the priority level is high. When the priority level is low, the packet is transmitted when both the global drop indicator and the queue drop indicator are a logic low value. When the priority level is low, the packet is not transmitted when either drop indicator is a logic low value.

  • Patent number: 9703584
Abstract: Virtual machine (VM) proliferation may be reduced through the use of Virtual Server Agents (VSAs) assigned to a group of VM hosts that may determine the availability of a VM to perform a task. Tasks may be assigned to existing VMs instead of creating a new VM to perform the task. Furthermore, a VSA coordinator may determine a grouping of VMs or VM hosts based on one or more factors associated with the VMs or the VM hosts, such as VM type or geographical location of the VM hosts. The VSA coordinator may also assign one or more VSAs to facilitate managing the group of VM hosts. In some embodiments, the VSA coordinators may facilitate load balancing of VSAs during operation, such as during a backup operation, a restore operation, or any other operation between a primary storage system and a secondary storage system.

  • Patent number: 9705715
Abstract: Automatic Gain Control (AGC) system for multi-channel signals attenuates an incoming multi-channel signal by providing a gain. The system further adjusts each individual channel, of the multi-channel signal, by supplying a second gain if needed. The AGC system is designed to ensure a received signal power is at an optimal level for analog to digital conversion or any other form of signal processing. The system also enables elimination of mid-packet gain adjustments.

  • Patent number: 9705499
Abstract: A system, method, and circuits for power efficient margining in a differential output driver that includes segments connected to outputs of the driver. Each segment can be configured independently to different states by activating corresponding transistor combinations. In a transmitting state, the transistors transmit data by establishing current paths between the driver outputs and a positive supply rail or a ground rail. In a margining state, the transistors are statically configured to form current paths that differ from those of the transmitting state, such that the segment contributes substantially a same differential impedance between the driver outputs as would be contributed by the segment when in the transmitting state, while contributing a different common mode impedance than in the transmitting state. The current paths of the margining state extend through transistors that transmit data in the transmitting state.

  • Patent number: 9703739
Abstract: In response to receiving a novel “Return Available PPI Credits” command from a credit-aware device, a packet engine sends a “Credit To Be Returned” (CTBR) value it maintains for that device back to the credit-aware device, and zeroes out its stored CTBR value. The credit-aware device adds the credits returned to a “Credits Available” value it maintains. The credit-aware device uses the “Credits Available” value to determine whether it can issue a PPI allocation request. The “Return Available PPI Credits” command does not result in any PPI allocation or de-allocation. In another novel aspect, the credit-aware device is permitted to issue one PPI allocation request to the packet engine when its recorded “Credits Available” value is zero or negative. If the PPI allocation request cannot be granted, then it is buffered in the packet engine, and is resubmitted within the packet engine, until the packet engine makes the PPI allocation.

  • Patent number: 9706221
Abstract: Reference pictures received via a video signal are downscaled to a specified resolution by a video encoder/decoder. For each current picture being processed by the video encoder/decoder, the current picture is maintained at its original received resolution, but is divided into blocks. Each block is further divided into sub-blocks, and each sub-block is compared, for a set of specified positions, to a corresponding block of the downscaled reference image to generate a set of candidate motion vectors. The candidate motion vectors are scored according to how closely their corresponding sub-block matches the corresponding block of the reference picture at the corresponding position, and a motion vector for each block of the current image is selected based on the scores. The selected motion vectors are used to process (e.g. encode) the video signal.

  • Patent number: 9706138
Abstract: Various techniques are provided for an infrared sensor assembly having a hybrid infrared sensor array. In one example, such a hybrid infrared sensor array may include a plurality of microbolometers and a non-bolometric infrared sensor. The non-bolometric infrared sensor may be a thermopile or other type of infrared sensor different from a bolometer-based sensor.
