  • Patent number: 10461849
Abstract: An amplifier receives an optical signal including a number of labeled channels via a fiber. The amplifier determines a count of the labeled channels and a spectral distribution of the labeled channels. The amplifier adjusts a parameter of the amplifier based on the count of the labeled channels and the spectral distribution of the labeled channels. The amplifier amplifies the optical signal at an adjusted output gain resulting from adjusting the parameter of the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 10462752
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards transmitting content in a guard band (marginal/edge) spectrum, in which the power level corresponds to a frequency associated with the transmission. One or more criteria such as a desired quality of service level of the content to transmit, measured noise data and so on are used to select a guard band frequency/power level for the transmission. The content transmission within this spectrum, at a lower downlink sector power level that protects adjacent channel users, allows delivery of multicast/broadcast content to a broad population of devices in an area, for example, and frees up primary carrier channels for other communications such as voice and high speed data communications.

  • Publication number: 20190327016
Abstract: A multi-layer network planning system can determine a set of regenerator sites (“RSs”) that have been found to cover all paths among a set of nodes of an optical layer of a multi-layer network and can determine a set of candidate RSs in the optical layer for use by the links between a set of nodes of an upper layer, wherein each RS can be selected as a candidate RS for the links. The system can determine a binary path matrix for the links between the set of nodes of the upper layer. The system can determine a min-cost matrix that includes a plurality of min-cost paths. The system can determine a best RS from the set of candidate RSs and can move the best RS from the set of candidate RSs into the set of RSs for the links. The system can then update the binary path matrix.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies of handling firmware for machine to machine devices via a service provider network are provided herein. In an embodiment, a computer system can provide an Internet of Things platform. The computer system may include a processor configured to intercept, via a service provider network, an activity message sent from a machine-to-machine device. The processor can obtain a firmware version identifier and an equipment identifier from the activity message. The processor can determine that a firmware update package is available for the machine-to-machine device, and in response, generate a schedule command that instructs a firmware scheduler to send a firmware update request to a firmware-over-the-air server. The processor can provide the schedule command to the firmware scheduler on behalf of the machine-to-machine device.

  • Patent number: 10454956
Abstract: An insider attack resistant system for providing cloud services integrity checking is disclosed. In particular, the system utilizes an automated integrity checking script and virtual machines to check the integrity of a service. The system may utilize the integrity checking script and virtual machines to execute a set of operations associated with the service so as to check the integrity of the service. When executing the set of operations, the system may only have access to the minimum level of access to peripherals that is required for each operation in the set of operations to be executed. After each operation is executed, the system may log each result for each operation, and analyze each result to determine if a failure exists for any of the operations. If a failure exists, the system may determine that a change in an expected system behavior associated with the service has occurred.

  • Patent number: 10454573
Abstract: An improved technique for acoustic sensing involves, in one embodiment, launching into a medium, a plurality of groups of pulse-modulated electromagnetic-waves. The frequency of electromagnetic waves in a pulse within a group differs from the frequency of the electromagnetic waves in another pulse within the group. The energy scattered by the medium is detected and, in one embodiment, may be used to determine a characteristic of the environment of the medium. For example, if the medium is a buried optical fiber into which light pulses have been launched in accordance with the invention, the presence of acoustic waves within the region of the buried fiber can be detected.

  • Patent number: 10455293
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to provide messages to consumer electronics devices are disclosed. An example method includes determining an identifier associated with a consumer electronics device from which a request has been received. The method also includes querying a database to determine first and second account identifiers associated with the identifier of the consumer electronics device. When the request is for messaging information stored with a first message provider, a first command is sent to cause the first message provider to forward the messaging information. When the request is for messaging information stored with a second message provider, a second command is sent to cause the second message provider to forward the messaging information. The messaging information received from at least one of the first message provider and the second message provider is sent to the consumer electronics device.

  • Patent number: 10454697
Abstract: The reduction of multicast traffic collisions is facilitated. A device that is associated with a multicast group receives a multicast message requesting re-transmission of an acknowledgment message from the device. The multicast message includes information identifying the device within the multicast group of devices. In response to the device being determined to be identified by the information, the acknowledgement message can be re-transmitted after a defined transmit delay period after receipt of the multicast message. The defined transmit delay period can be based on the number of devices in the multicast group, based on the number of previous re-transmissions by the device and/or based on the number of devices for which re-transmission is requested.
