  • Publication number: 20190149883
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device that facilitates sharing, by a mobile phone user, content that the user has viewed on a television coupled to a media processor. A message is initiated via a messaging client of the mobile phone, and a video clip is obtained by the mobile phone from the media processor. Additional video content provided at the mobile phone is attached to the video clip. The format of the video clip is converted to enable presentation of the converted video clip at a recipient device; the converted video clip is transmitted to the recipient device via the messaging client. The media processor and the mobile phone form a natively integrated device, so that a video clip of the content can be produced and transmitted without installation of an application on the mobile phone.

  • Publication number: 20190143129
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for relaying information from a cardiac pacemaker to an external device. Logic on the pacemaker modulates a heartbeat clock of the pacemaker to encode information onto a blood pressure sequence by adding or subtracting a small subinterval to or from a pulse repetition interval of the pacemaker. A muscle stimulator beats the heart according to the modulated sequence. A monitoring device external to the body monitors the blood pressure to retrieve the encoded information, or message. The encoded information is then decoded to determine the information in the message. This information may concern the pacemaker as well as other devices within the body that communicate with the pacemaker such as blood monitors, etc. Since the message is conveyed via simple modulation of the heart beat intervals, no separate transmitter is required in the pacemaker which would otherwise increase cost and decrease battery life.

  • Publication number: 20190150136
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device that converts a modulated signal in a spectral segment to the modulated signal at a carrier frequency without modifying a signaling protocol, wherein the carrier frequency is outside of the spectral segment. A guided electromagnetic wave is generated that propagates along a physical transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path and includes a reference signal in addition to the modulated signal at the carrier frequency. A wireless signal is transmitted by antenna coupled to the physical transmission medium, wherein the signal is directed to a network element of a distributed antenna system, including the reference signal and modulated signal. The reference signal enables the network element to reduce distortion when reconverting the modulated signal at the carrier frequency to the modulated signal in the spectral segment for wireless distribution to a mobile communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190150072
Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments, an access point includes a first communication interface that receives, first guided electromagnetic waves from a first waveguide system wherein the first guided electromagnetic waves convey a first plurality of resource blocks containing first data. A data switch selects first selected portions of the first data corresponding to a first subset of the first plurality of resource blocks for transmission to at least one communication device in proximity to the access point and select second selected portions of the first data corresponding to a second subset of the first plurality of resource blocks by omitting the first subset from the first plurality of resource blocks. A second communication interface generates second guided electromagnetic waves conveying the second selected portions of the first data to facilitate reuse of the first subset of the first plurality of resource blocks by a second waveguide system.
