  • Patent number: 11991524
Abstract: Described herein are techniques for enabling remote implementation and enforcement of usage settings on one or more user devices. In some embodiments, a wireless carrier network maintains information on relationships between various user devices. Each relationship may be active under specified conditions (e.g., time and/or location) and is associated with usage settings that dictate one or more rules to be enforced while the relationship is active. In some embodiments, a set of usage settings may be generated for a particular user device based on all active relationships associated with that user device. The set of usage settings may be enforced by a mobile application installed upon a user device or by a wireless carrier network that blocks certain network traffic to and/or from the user device.

  • Patent number: 11991783
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a wireless data service to a wireless User Equipment (UE). In the wireless communication network, a network controller receives a service request from a wireless UE and transfers a UE context request to a Unified Data Management (UDM). The UDM retrieves a subscriber profile for the wireless UE. The UDM identifies a wireless service type for the wireless UE and identifies a set of virtual Data Network Names (vDNNs) in the subscriber profile. The UDM selects one of the vDNNs for the wireless UE based on the wireless service type of the wireless UE. The UDM indicates the selected one of the vDNNs to the network controller. The network controller overrides provisioned DNN values using the selected one of the vDNNs. The network controller establishes a wireless data session for the wireless UE based on the selected one of the vDNNs.

  • Patent number: 11991558
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a wireless User Equipment (UE) over a working network slice and a protect network slice. The wireless communication network receives UE capability data from the wireless UE that indicates the working network slice and the protect network slice. The wireless communication network determines UE context for the working network slice and for the protect network slice. The wireless communication network exchanges initial user data with the wireless UE over the working network slice based on the UE context. The wireless communication network exchanges additional user data with the wireless UE over the protect network slice based on the UE context when performance of the working network slice triggers a slice switch based on the UE context.

  • Patent number: 11991525
Abstract: The disclosed technology provides systems and methods for dynamically locking and unlocking wireless communication devices by enforcing updateable subscriber identity module (SIM) and public land mobile network (PLMN) policy information. A device receives policy information from a policy server, compares the policy information against information in the SIM and dynamically updates a lock state of the device based on the policy information, potentially overriding a factory lock state of the device. The policy information can include a whitelist indicating the SIMs that the device can accept. The device can also obtain and apply branding information when the SIM information matches the received policy information, and block access to certain device functionality when the SIM information does not match the policy information.

  • Patent number: 11991217
Abstract: A wireless communication network provides a text-messaging service and a voice-calling service to wireless communication devices. The wireless communication network monitors performance of text-messaging functions and voice-calling functions. The wireless communication network prioritizes the text-messaging functions and the voice-calling functions based on their performance. The wireless communication network transfers function lists that prioritize the text-messaging functions and the voice-calling functions by their performance. The wireless communication network wirelessly exchanges text-messaging signaling and voice-calling signaling between the wireless communication devices and the text-messaging functions and the voice-calling functions. Individual ones of the wireless communication devices exchange the text-messaging signaling with selected ones of the text-messaging functions based on the function list that prioritizes the text-messaging functions by their performance.

  • Patent number: 11991577
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for delaying a dynamic connection modification of a user device connection. A first frequency band is determined to have a greater sector power ratio (SPR) than a second frequency band. The first frequency band is determined to have a loading factor above a threshold. Based at least in part on the first frequency band having the greater SPR and the first frequency band having the loading factor above the threshold, a connection of the user device to the first frequency band for access for to a wireless communication protocol is delayed.

  • Patent number: 11991645
Abstract: The technologies described herein are generally directed to determining a response by a user equipment to a signal from a base station based on transmission signal strength relayed with the signal in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. For example, a method described herein can include receiving initial signal from base station equipment, with the initial signal encoding a signal strength of the base station transmission, which can facilitate establishing a connection between the user equipment and the base station equipment. The method can further include, based on the signal strength value, estimating a likelihood that a response signal from the user equipment would be able to reach base station equipment. Further, the method can include, based on the estimated likelihood, determine a response to initial signal.

  • Patent number: 11991536
Abstract: The technology described herein selects an optimal multiplexing technology to use for a communication session. The optimal technology will minimize the probability of a disruption (e.g., a dropped call) during a communication session. A multiplexing decision process may be implemented when a user equipment (UE) is not capable of transitioning between two different multiplexing technologies and is located in a geographic area where networks using two different multiplexing technologies are available. In one aspect, the selection of an optimal multiplexing technology considers the network context at a time when the communication session is initiated, the UE's context (e.g., location near network edge, mobility profile), a device profile for the UE model, the UE history, and usage history for the user of the UE.
