Abstract: For degreasing the surface of an object, applying thereto a composition containing at least 25% by weight of an amphiphilic compound of the formula A--B, wherein A is a lipophilic and hydrophobic radical and B is a hydrophilic radical, e.g., an alkyleneglycol ether oxide having a terminal group of at least 10 carbon atoms, then rinsing the surface with water.
Abstract: To replace compositions based on CFC or CFHC in applications for cleaning solid surfaces (in particular defluxing), the invention proposes azeotropic or quasi-azeotropic compositions based on 1,1,1,2,2,4,4-heptafluorobutane and a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alcohol.
Abstract: The invention relates to mixtures of polymers including at least one halogen-containing polymer and compatibilized with a grafted aliphatic polyester. The compatibilizing agent may be, for example, a polycaprolactone grafted with maleic anhydride or glycidyl methacrylate.
Abstract: Otherwise malodorous animal feeds are deodorized by treating same with an effective foodstuff deodorizing amount of polyoxyalkylene ester of undecylenic acid.
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of fluorinated copolymers based on trifluoroethylene (VF3) and tetrafluoroethylene (C.sub.2 F.sub.4), having melting points above 210.degree. C. and soluble in the customary polar solvents, as protective coatings for a variety of substrates (plates, wires, cables, fibers, etc.) in the form of extruded films or sheaths or in the form of varnishes and paints.
Abstract: Bifunctional primer naphthalene compounds having the formula: ##STR1## wherein M" is an alkali metal, preferably sodium or lithium, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are, e.g., alkyl radicals, are prepared from corresponding 1,5-diethenylnaphthalene derivatives, and are well suited for the improved anionic polymerization of diene, vinylaromatic and/or (meth)acrylic monomers.
Abstract: To obtain a compound of formula (I), an anhydride (II) is reacted with a heterocyclic alcohol (III). After the reaction, the excess (meth)acrylic anhydride can be hydrolysed to (meth)acrylic acid by addition of water and heating between 25.degree. and 70.degree. C., preferably between 30.degree. and 50.degree. C., in order to obtain the compound (I) in solution in water and (meth)acrylic acid: ##STR1## R.sup.1 .dbd.H or CH.sub.3 ; A and B each independently represent a straight- or branched-chain C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkylene group.
Abstract: Stripping action of an alkaline paint stripper is improved when ammonia is partially or completely replaced with ammonium bicarbonate or chemical equivalent thereof which decomposes into ammonia and carbon dioxide. A benzyl alcohol solvent system containing at least ammonium bicarbonate is preferably a water-in-oil emulsion emulsified with oleic hydroxyethyl imidazoline and thickened with hydroxypropyl cellulose or hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. A mixture of ammonium carbamate and ammonium bicarbonate identified as ammonium carbonate is the preferred activator for this alkaline paint stripper. Improved stripping can also be provided by reacting ammonium bicarbonate and ammonia in situ within the water-in-oil emulsion.
Abstract: The solid catalytic component according to the invention is obtained bya) treatment of a catalytic component support with ZrCl.sub.4 or HfCl.sub.4 in the gas phase, followed by ab) treatment with a solution or suspension of a compound capable of grafting a group containing the cycloalkadienyl skeleton to the Zr or Hf contained in the support. Polymerization of olefins in the presence of such a catalytic component results in polymers with low polydispersities, which polymers are obtained with high productivities.
