Abstract: A detection system is provided for detecting a musical note played on a string instrument having a fretboard provided with a plurality of conductive frets and conductive strings. The system includes at least one conductor coupled to each of the frets; an inverter having a first terminal coupled to the conductor and a second terminal coupled to the conductive string, the inverter being configured to logically invert a signal transmitted therethrough, such that when the conductive string is pressed against one of the frets allowing thereby for a signal to be transmitted therethrough, the signal is sequentially inverted between two logical states at a frequency being dependent on the distance between the inverter and the fret; a frequency detector configured to measure the frequency; and a controller configured for determining the location of the fret along the fretboard in accordance with the frequency, and to thereby detect the musical note.
Abstract: A fluid-filled, frequency-dependent damper includes a cylinder connected to a cylinder attachment portion; a piston connected to a piston attachment portion, the piston being displaceable in the cylinder; first and second main chambers; and a throttling member for allowing and influencing a fluid flow between the first and second main chambers within the damper when the cylinder attachment portion and the piston attachment portion move relative to each other.
Abstract: A solution circuit apparatus for a blood purification system having an extracorporeal blood circuit. The solution circuit apparatus includes a solution source; a warmer having a temperature sensor; a bypass branch; a delivery branch communicating with the extracorporeal blood circuit; a pump; a switch; and a control unit configured to set the solution circuit apparatus into one of a solution delivery condition and a solution stop condition. In the solution delivery condition the switch interrupts the bypass branch, and the pump delivers solution via the warmer and through the delivery branch. In the solution stop condition the switch interrupts the delivery branch, and the pump recirculates solution through the warmer via the bypass branch. In the therapy stop condition the pump rate is dependent on the output of the temperature sensor.
Abstract: A medium voltage connection has: a first conductor and a second conductor electrically attached to each other; a first isolating layer arranged around the first conductor and a second isolating layer arranged around the second conductor, leaving an air gap between both isolating layers; an isolating rubber sleeve arranged between the first isolating layer and the second isolating layer to fill the air gap between the two isolating layers. A conducting layer is arranged on the first isolating layer and the rubber sleeve is provided with a conducting portion, which overlaps with the conducting layer.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for in vitro determining generation of a haemostatis factor such as thrombin and/or plasmin in a test sample using a chemiluminescent substrate specific for said blood clotting factor. Upon cleavage of the substrate, a luminescent signal is generated via aminoluceferin with the aid of a luciferase. The invention also relates to a kit for in vitro determining generation of a haemostasis factor in a test sample, and to novel chemiluminescent substrates for the determination of thrombin and plasmin.
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to convert a representation of a road geometry in the form of an analytical curve to a clothoid road geometry. In the context of a method, a plurality of break-point locations are determined along an analytical curve that represents a portion of the road network. The method determines the plurality of break-points locations by determining the plurality of break-point locations depending upon a curvature profile of the analytical curve so as to define one more sections of the analytical curve based upon the break-point locations. The method also converts one of more sections of the analytical curve to respective clothoids.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for determining deformation of a patterning device and/or shift position of the patterning device relative. The system includes a first sensing sub-system that measures respective positions of a plurality of reference marks on the patterning device, and a second sensing sub-system that measures positions of the edge of the patterning device relative to the support. The system further includes a controller to determine an absolute position of the patterned portion and change in the absolute position based on measured respective positions of marks on the patterning device, determine a change in a relative position of the edge of the patterned device based on the measured edge positions, and estimate a change in a position of the patterning device relative to the support and a change in a pattern distortion of the patterned portion of the patterning device over a time period.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition suitable for forming an optical coating, the composition comprising core-shell nanoparticles, wherein said nanoparticles comprise: (a) core material comprising polymer; and (b) shell material comprising metal oxide.

Abstract: Apparatus for use in one of a plurality of sensors each having a respective transmitter which transmits pulses for sensing, a respective clock which controls timing of the pulses transmitted from the respective transmitter, and a respective receiver which receives echoed instances of the pulses. The apparatus comprises: sensing logic configured to sense a being or object in dependence on the echoed pulses received back by the respective receiver from the respective transmitter, and timing logic configured to compensate for a clock discrepancy between the respective clock and that of one or more others of the sensors. The timing logic does this by using the respective receiver to listen for instances of the pulses from the one or more other sensors, and adjusting the timing of the pulses from the respective transmitter based thereon.
