  • Patent number: 9839114
Abstract: A method for the suppression of upstream-directed field emission in RF accelerators. The method is not restricted to a certain number of cavity cells, but requires similar operating field levels in all cavities to efficiently annihilate the once accumulated energy. Such a field balance is desirable to minimize dynamic RF losses, but not necessarily achievable in reality depending on individual cavity performance, such as early Q0-drop or quench field. The method enables a significant energy reduction for upstream-directed electrons within a relatively short distance. As a result of the suppression of upstream-directed field emission, electrons will impact surfaces at rather low energies leading to reduction of dark current and less issues with heating and damage of accelerator components as well as radiation levels including neutron generation and thus radio-activation.

  • Patent number: 9837281
Abstract: A process for depositing doped aluminum nitride (doped AlN) is disclosed. The process comprises subjecting a substrate to temporally separated exposures to an aluminum precursor and a nitrogen precursor to form an aluminum and nitrogen-containing compound on the substrate. The aluminum and nitrogen-containing compound is subsequently exposed to a dopant precursor to form doped AlN. The temporally separated exposures to an aluminum precursor and a nitrogen precursor, and the subsequent exposure to a dopant precursor together constitute a doped AlN deposition cycle. A plurality of doped AlN deposition cycles may be performed to deposit a doped AlN film of a desired thickness. The dopant content of the doped AlN can be tuned by performing a particular ratio of 1) separated exposures to an aluminum precursor and a nitrogen precursor, to 2) subsequent exposures to the dopant. The deposition may be performed in a batch process chamber, which may accommodate batches of 25 or more substrates.

  • Patent number: 9838165
Abstract: A method of testing a data transmission and reception system comprises sending a test signal from a transmitter (14) of the system to a receiver (12) of the system, and analyzing the received signal. A duty cycle relationship is varied between the test signal and the timing signal used by the receiver of the system, and the effect of the duty cycle variation is analyzed. Varying the duty cycle relationship provides duty cycle distortion (DCD), and this can be considered as a form of embedded jitter insertion. This type of jitter can be measured relatively easily.

  • Patent number: 9836871
Abstract: A method for creating a plane panorama from point cloud data using Hough transformations is disclosed. The method involves converting the three-dimensional point cloud into a two-dimensional histogram with bins grouping neighboring points, and performing a Hough transformation on the histogram. The resulting transformed data is segmented and the method searches the segments iteratively for a major line, followed by lines that are orthogonal, diagonal, or parallel to the major line, and discards outlying data in each bin as lines are identified. The detected lines are connected to form planes, and the planes are assembled into a hole- and gap-filled panorama. The method may also use an algorithm such as a Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) algorithm to detect a ground plane.
