    Abstract: This invention relates to the use of 4-amidino benzylamine derivatives as cosmetic ingredients and to cosmetic compositions, as well as to non-therapeutic methods for the cosmetic treatment of the skin and the scalp. Said derivatives and compositions can be used as urokinase inhibitors to prevent and restore damage of the epidermal barrier. Barrier abnormalities and disruptions respectively are often the starting point of a dry skin state, of itching, of dandruff and of the perception of sensitive skin.     Abstract: Based on information on a biometric print of a user of a mobile device and user associated identification, the user is biometrically authenticated over a network for access to an online service. When a request from the user for access to an online service is received, a server checks the identification to determine if the user or mobile device is registered for a biometric based verification service. If registered, a sample biometric print is obtained from the user and compared to a stored template biometric print of the authorized user associated with the mobile device to determine if there is a match. When there is a match, the user is biometrically authenticated and is granted access to the online service.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a process for producing a bisphenol A product comprises: reacting phenol with acetone in the presence of a sulfur containing promoter to obtain a reaction mixture comprising bisphenol A, phenol, and the promoter; after reacting the phenol with the acetone, cooling to form a crystal stream comprising crystals of bisphenol A and phenol; separating the crystals from the crystal steam; melting the crystals to form a molten stream of bisphenol A, phenol, and sulfur; contacting the molten stream with a base to reduce a sulfur concentration in the molten stream and form a reduced sulfur stream; and removing phenol from the reduced sulfur stream to form a bisphenol A product.

    Abstract: A method of processing bagged refuse includes pneumatically conveying filled refuse bags along a conduit using an airflow and opening the bags during the pneumatic conveyance. An apparatus for carrying out the method includes a conduit configured to pass an airflow to pneumatically convey bagged refuse along the conduit and a bag opening structure arranged to open the refuse bags during pneumatic conveyance along the conduit. The open bagged refuse is sorted into fractions using the airflow by passing the refuse across an opening through which the airflow continues. A wall is arranged in the path of travel of the pneumatically conveyed refuse to disaggregate the refuse by impacting the refuse against the wall. The wall is arranged vertically and at least partially defines an opening through which the air stream continues such that a fraction of the refuse falling across the opening is conveyed through the opening.
