  • Patent number: 8818574
Abstract: A plurality of control channels each include a power supply, an interface that receives a manipulation signal, an arithmetic processing portion that calculates and generates an operation command signal for actuators based on the manipulation signal, and a signal determination unit that determines a control signal for finally controlling the operation of the actuators and outputs the control signal. The arithmetic processing portions respectively provided in the plurality of control channels have designs different from one another. Each of the signal determination units determines the control signal by receiving a first operation command signal generated by the arithmetic processing portion of the control channel in which that signal determination unit is provided, and a second operation command signal generated in the arithmetic processing portion of another of the control channels, and comparing the first operation command signal and the second operation command signal, and outputs the control signal.

  • Publication number: 20140107879
Abstract: A system, computer readable storage device and method for controlling torque in a hybrid electric vehicle are disclosed. The method comprises determining a state of charge of an energy storage device, obtaining a reference state of charge, obtaining an error from a difference between the determined state of charge and the reference state of charge; and apportioning torque between a motor and an engine based upon the error. The motor is electrically coupled to the energy storage device and powered by the energy storage device. A state of charge (SOC) correction factor is determined based upon the error. The SOC correction factor is used to adjust a torque ratio of motor to engine torque that is determined for a given torque command.

  • Publication number: 20130054060
Abstract: An inventive system and method for managing vehicle power is presented. The novel technology provides a means to automatically shutdown a vehicle's engine when conditions are such that engine power is not needed, reducing fuel consumption as well as lowering noise and emissions. A series of conditions are examined to determine whether engine power is needed and hence whether shutdown can be safely performed. The inventive system and method can also determine when power is again needed by the engine and can re-start the engine automatically at such times.
