Patent number: 8953782Abstract: A method of sending or marshaling data from a device through a cryptographic unit in a software communications architecture (SCA), includes identifying an endian mode of the cryptographic unit, and determining if the data to be sent from the device has an endian mode that matches the endian mode of the cryptographic unit. If the endian modes match, the data is enabled to be sent through the cryptographic unit. If the endian modes do not match, the endian mode of the data is flipped and then the data is then enabled to be sent through the cryptographic unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2012Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventor: Guy M. Patent number: 8934087Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for providing a multi-zone sensing array configured for use in a dual-mode active/passive sensor system. In some embodiments, the techniques can be used to minimize or otherwise reduce power dissipation in sensor arrays, while further providing the ability to readout the active returns rapidly. The techniques can be implemented, for example, by using the full N×M array format for target acquisition in a passive imaging mode, and then, with the aid of a gimbal for instance, place the region-of-interest in a subset of the array configured with dual-mode active/passive pixel receivers to provide three-dimensional imaging. Such techniques are capable of, for example, supporting both active and passive operating modes of a countermeasure system.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2012Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: James A. Patent number: 8934776Abstract: A plurality of optical transmission sources provide data communication from a transmitting module to a common detector cooperative with a receiving module, the modules being subject to relative rotation about a shared axis. The detector can be located on the shared axis, each of the sources directing a beam onto the detector regardless of relative module orientation, and/or the light can be diffused, so that it is detected regardless of source and detector placement and relative module orientations. Transmissions can be distinguished according to synchronized timing, differing optical frequencies, differing baud rates, and/or differing circular polarizations. The detector can split the light into a plurality of beams which pass through different optical filters and are thereby distinguished. Cut-off circuits can prevent failed sources from transmitting. A diffused second light source and a second plurality of detectors can provide reverse communication from the receiving module to the transmitting module.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2011Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: James H. Patent number: 8929422Abstract: A method and apparatus of minimizing corruption of a reference clock to a RF circuitry in a radio system is disclosed. A DICE-T receives a reference clock in a Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) format from a GVA. The DICE-T personality card converts the reference clock signal into an analog signal. The analog signal is supplied to the Core Engine RF card and the LVDS format signal is supplied to the Core Engine modem for local clocking. The Core Engine RF feeds the analog signal into a programmable phase locked loop chip to generate all the clocks required for RF processing. The analog signal is also used to provide the clocks to the ADC and DAC of core engine modem. By routing the reference clock directly to the RF card then deriving the modem clocks, the phase noise of the reference clock is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2012Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Boris Radovcic, Michael S. Patent number: 8929936Abstract: A method and system of cognitive communication for generating non-interfering transmission, includes conducting radio scene analysis to find grey spaces using external signal parameters for incoming signal analysis without having to decode incoming signals. The disclosed cognitive communications system combines the areas of communications, signal processing, pattern classification and machine learning to detect the signals in the given spectrum of interests, extracts their features, classifies the signals in types, learns the salient characteristics and patterns of the signal and predicts their future behaviors. In the process of signal analysis, a classifier is employed for classifying the signals. The designing of such a classifier is initially performed based on selection of features of a signal detected and by selecting a model of the classifier.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2013Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Apurva N.
