  • Patent number: 8706676
Abstract: The method includes receiving a plurality of target observations from a respective plurality of sensors and using the target observations to compute target state estimates. Each of the target state estimates is assessed to check if it suffers from one of a set of modelled possible fault types. The target state estimates are adjusted to compensate for any modelled fault type when it is assessed to be suffering from that fault type. A reliability value is computed for each of the target state estimates and the target state estimates are fused together based on the computed reliability values to produce a fused target state estimate.

  • Publication number: 20140107970
Abstract: A specific emitter identification (SEI) method and apparatus is capable of identifying and tracking objects within a geographical area of interest wherein the system and method has not been preprogrammed to look for particular signals. The system and method receives all of the emitted electromagnetic signals emitted from area of interest. The system and method next performs high order statistical analysis on the received signals and determines which signals emanate from possible targets of interest and which likely emanate from background clutter/noise by comparing the relative degrees of Gaussianness of the signals (for example using entropy measurements). The least Gaussian signals are deemed to likely be signals from potential targets of interest while those which are more Gaussian are deemed to be likely from background clutter or noise.

  • Publication number: 20140107879
Abstract: A system, computer readable storage device and method for controlling torque in a hybrid electric vehicle are disclosed. The method comprises determining a state of charge of an energy storage device, obtaining a reference state of charge, obtaining an error from a difference between the determined state of charge and the reference state of charge; and apportioning torque between a motor and an engine based upon the error. The motor is electrically coupled to the energy storage device and powered by the energy storage device. A state of charge (SOC) correction factor is determined based upon the error. The SOC correction factor is used to adjust a torque ratio of motor to engine torque that is determined for a given torque command.

  • Patent number: 8697128
Abstract: An oxygen delivery system is disclosed. The basis of the oxygen deliver system is a carbide-derived carbon (CDC). The CDC can be tuned to carry O2 directly (CDC OC), or hemoglobin can be adsorbed to provide a hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (CDC HBOC). The delivery system allows the use of a variety of hemoglobins which differ in their oxygen dissociation profiles, including variant and mutant hemoglobins from other species. The delivery system is biocompatible and stable, and is able to irreversibly bind and hold large amounts of functional hemoglobin variants.
