  • Publication number: 20220142004
Abstract: A heat dissipation structure is disclosed that is especially well-suited for use on aerodynamic systems. The heat dissipation structure is formed within a metallic body that surrounds the heat-generating electronics. The heat dissipation structure is designed to both dissipate the generated heat and also to isolate RF cross-talk between the one or more transmitters and receivers. The heat dissipation structure includes a plurality of ring structures that extend around at least a portion of a body that houses the one or more heat-generating electrical components. The plurality of ring structures may be recessed into the body, and a first spacing between a first adjacent pair of ring structures of the plurality of ring structures is different from a second spacing between a second adjacent pair of ring structures of the plurality of ring structures.

  • Publication number: 20220141237
Abstract: A method of detecting abnormal or malicious activity in a point-to-point or packet-switched data communication network includes tapping a link in the network to obtain a data stream transmitted from a node of the network in parallel with transmission of the data stream through the network. The tap is non-invasive because it does not interfere with the normal traversal of the data stream across the network. This is useful for certain applications, such as mission-critical systems, where it is desirable to monitor the network and inspect the data without adversely impacting or otherwise interfering with the normal operation of the system. The method further includes decoding a communication protocol encoded in the data stream to obtain payload data from the data stream, analyzing the payload data to detect abnormal or malicious activity, and notifying a host of the network of the detected abnormal or malicious activity in the payload data.

  • Publication number: 20220138981
Abstract: Techniques are provided for image-based estimation of the orientation of an airborne platform. A methodology implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes rotating an image, provided by a camera on the platform, by a selected rotation angle. The method also includes computing an intensity gradient image based on the rotated image. The method further includes extracting a left quarter segment and a right quarter segment of the intensity gradient image. The method further includes flipping one of the extracted segments about a vertical axis through that segment and comparing the non-flipped segment to the flipped segment to generate a matching score. The comparison may be based on a correlation between the flipped segment and the non-flipped segment. The process may be repeated for additional rotation angles and the rotation angle associated with the highest matching score is selected as the estimated orientation angle of the platform.

  • Patent number: 11300682
Abstract: A system and method for a bistatic coherent LIDAR system with lasers locked to a reference. Utilizing atomic absorption lines to lock the frequency for the bistatic system provides an absolute reference, as each of the lasers in the bistatic system would have the same frequency to within the linewidth of the frequency reference. Each laser may also be additionally locked to an optical cavity for increased frequency stability. Not only does such a system provide essentially an infinite aperture, it also reduces laser power requirements because the detector platforms could be much closer to the target than the platform that contains the laser.

  • Patent number: 11303455
Abstract: Apparatus and method for authentication components of a public network are disclosed. A master compares an actual HMAC with an expected HMAC, determines that component fails authentication when the actual HMAC does not match the expected HMAC and causes at least one operation to be inhibited when component fails authentication for a preset number of times while the component is connected to the public network. The actual HMAC is determined by the component. The expected HMAC and actual HMAC are independently determined using the same process and using a key. The same key is stored, in advance, in both the master and the component and not transmitted. The master generates a random number and sends the same to the component. The expected HMAC and actual HMAC are determined using the random number input into a one-way hash function.
