  • Patent number: 5520345
Abstract: The present invention relates to a textile machine for producing/processing yarns, in which the empty tubes and full yarn packages are transported by a product transport system which includes a guideway for the product conveying devices, and a separate overhead rail which supports a tractor drive unit. The tractor drive unit may be coupled to either end of the product conveying devices by an elongate chain, which permits the product conveying devices to be moved onto and from said tracks which extend along an aisle along the front of the textile machine.

  • Patent number: 5513973
Abstract: A melt spinning apparatus is disclosed which includes a supporting housing, a melt supply block mounted in the upper end of the housing, and a spin plate mounted adjacent the lower end of the housing so as to define a spinning chamber between the block and plate. A melt diverting plate is positioned in the spinning chamber for deflecting the melt entering into the chamber, and the melt diverting plate is configured such that substantially the same pressure drop occurs in the melt as it moves from the melt supply duct to all portions of the upper surface of the spin plate, so as to achieve a substantially uniform denier among the resulting filaments.

  • Patent number: 5484370
Abstract: A rotatably supported roll (1), which is adapted to form a nip with a second roll, so as to advance therebetween a web of material. The load in the nip between the rolls can be controlled by an adjustable camber. To this end, an interior hollow space (13) is provided in the roll (1), which is filled with an incompressible pressure medium, and put under a controlled pressure, so as to cause the roll jacket (10/12) to bulge radially outwardly. This bulging can be significantly supported and influenced by a predetermined progression of the wall thickness of the jacket (10/12) in the axial direction of the roll.

  • Patent number: 5469609
Abstract: A yarn texturing apparatus which comprises a nozzle having a passageway through which the yarn is advanced, and a duct system for introducing heated air into the passageway. A perforated stuffer box is disposed adjacent the outlet end of the passageway. The duct system for the heated air includes an annular duct surrounding the passageway, and a supply duct communicating with the annular duct. Also, an adjustable deflector is mounted in the supply duct immediately adjacent the annular duct for imparting a circumferential component to the heated air as it enters the annular duct, and which in turn imparts a slight twist to the advancing yarn so as to facilitate its smooth advance.

  • Patent number: 5469149
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously producing an endless thermoplastic material, such as yarn or tape, and winding the material into a package. A physical parameter of the package, such as its diameter or weight, is monitored, and a control signal is generated which is a function of the monitored physical parameter. The control signal is then compared to a predetermined reference signal, and an output signal is generated when the difference between the control signal and the reference signal exceeds a predetermined deviation. The output signal thus represents the quality of the material in the package, and it may be used to permit classification of the final product or to control the operating conditions of the apparatus so as to maintain a desired quality level.

  • Patent number: 5440870
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring the quality of the yarn processed on a false twist texturing machine is disclosed, and which includes sensing the tension of the advancing yarn at a location immediately downstream of the false twist unit, and determining the coefficient of variation of the sensed tension. An error signal is generated whenever the coefficient of variation exceeds a predetermined upper limit and whenever the coefficient of variation drops below a predetermined lower limit. Also, an alarm signal is generated whenever the error signal exceeds the predetermined upper limit for a predetermined time, and whenever the error signal drops below the predetermined lower limit for a predetermined time, and the alarm signals are counted so as to provide an indication of the quality of the yarn.

  • Patent number: 5433591
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a synthetic filament yarn including a spinneret and cooling shaft. A plurality of air deflecting members in the form of coaxial tubes or flat plates are mounted within the cooling shaft so that the upper edge of each tube or plate lies closely adjacent the periphery of the bundle of extruded filaments, and the lower edge of each tube or plate is at a distance from the filaments greater than that of the upper edge. The deflecting members thus serve to shield the filaments from air turbulence and also to remove from the filaments a significant portion of the heated air which is entrained with the advancing filaments.

  • Patent number: 5423170
Abstract: A yarn winding machine having a suction apparatus for withdrawing the severed advancing yarns during the bobbin changing operation. The suction apparatus comprises a tubular duct which extends the length of the winding machine, and the duct mounts a yarn intake tube of relatively small diameter in front of each of the side by side winding stations of the machine. A yarn is adapted to be sucked into and through each of the yarn intake tubes by the relatively high speed air current flowing therethrough, and the yarn then advances into the tubular duct and to a waste container.

  • Patent number: 5398801
Abstract: A conveying apparatus for supporting an article such as a product carrier during its conveyance is disclosed. The conveying apparatus includes a transferring track segment and a receiving track segment which are positioned laterally side by side, and with the transferring track segment being progressively inclined from a horizontal orientation to a laterally tilted orientation, and with the receiving track segment being progressively inclined from a laterally tilted orientation to a horizontal orientation. As result, the article being conveyed is rotated about a longitudinal axis and transferred to the receiving track segment. The apparatus finds particular utility in a yarn spinning plant, wherein yarn packages may be conveyed in a horizontal orientation and then rotated to a vertical orientation to facilitate packaging.

  • Patent number: 5394696
Abstract: In a hydraulic system, several consumers (4) are supplied by a common pump. In so doing, the consumers (4) are controlled by control valves (6). When the required oil flows exceed the quantity which can maximally be delivered, a control becomes operative which allows to adapt the reference value signals by which the valves (6) are controlled, to the actually measured pump flow, preferably to the weighting of the actually measured pump flow with the maximally predetermined pump flow.

  • Patent number: 5369945
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a false twist texturing machine, which extends the previously known process for controlling operation during the normal operation of the machine, to exceptional operating conditions, such as during yarn thread-up and/or restarting after a temporary stoppage of operation by reason of a power failure. In accordance with the invention, the known method which includes control of the frictional force imparted to the yarn as a function of the yarn tension, is modified in such a manner that during periods other than normal operation, the control of the frictional force as a function of the yarn tension is terminated, and a predetermined frictional force is imparted to the yarn.

  • Patent number: 5352106
Abstract: A spinning apparatus for melt spinning thermoplastic multicomponent yarn is disclosed, in which a nozzle pack (22) is joined by bolts with a filter cup (13), with the entire unit being mounted by a thread (21) on a connecting plug (20) of the pump or distributor block (10). The nozzle pack (22) is adapted to produce bicomponent yarns, and the exchange of a single blending plate (37) allows the apparatus to produce different structures of bicomponent filaments. Such spinning apparatus enhance the flexibility of the synthetic fiber producer and reduce the cost for spare parts, since it is necessary to keep available only additional blending plates (37), but not entire nozzle packs (22).
