Abstract: A catalyst composition is applied to an interior of a hollow substrate. The composition is coated on the substrate by immersing the substrate into a vessel containing a bath of coating slurry. A vacuum is then applied to the partially immersed substrate. The intensity of the vacuum and its application time is sufficient to draw the coating slurry upwardly from the bath into each of a plurality of channels located in the interior of the hollow substrate. After removing the substrate from the bath it is rotated 180°. A blast of pressurized air is applied at an intensity and for a time sufficient to distribute the coating slurry within the channels of the substrate to form a uniform coating profile therein.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a polypeptide with the biological activity of a sucrose-6-phosphate phosphatase which, if not present, brings about growth retardation symptoms and chlorotic leaves and which is encoded by the nucleic acid sequences SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:5 or by a functional equivalent of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:5 as target for herbicides. Moreover, the present invention relates to the use of the abovementioned polypeptides in a method for identifying herbicidal or growth-regulatory compounds which inhibit sucrose-6-phosphate phosphatase. Moreover, the invention relates to the use of these compounds which have been identified via the method as herbicides or growth regulators.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for testing material libraries, in particular catalysts, by means of coupled use of at least two analytical methods, preferably IR thermography and mass spectrometry. Owing to the selected arrangement, the disadvantages of the two previously known individual methods are compensated for: the subsequent selectivity determination for selected sections by means of mass spectrometry invalidates the argument against IR thermography, of only being able to determine activities; the rapid integrated determination of potentially “good” materials via IR thermography prevents an excessive loss of time by needing to test all materials of a library successively with the mass spectrometer.
