  • Patent number: 6737469
Abstract: The present invention is a method of incorporating a water insoluble organic chemical into a styrene-butadiene rubber latex dispersion and the resulting styrene-butadiene rubber latex dispersion. A styrene-butadiene rubber latex dispersion is provided comprising an aqueous phase and a disperse phase, with the disperse phase including particles of styrene-butadiene rubber. An organic solvent that is miscible in water and the water insoluble organic chemical are added together to the styrene-butadiene rubber latex dispersion. The addition of the water-miscible organic solvent allows the water insoluble organic chemical to pass from the aqueous phase into the disperse phase thus limiting separation of the water insoluble organic chemical from the latex dispersion. The resulting SBR latex has increased properties over conventional latices that use the same amount of the water insoluble organic chemical but that do not include the water-miscible organic solvent.

  • Publication number: 20040088904
Abstract: A termite bait station for installation in the ground includes a tubular outer housing and a tubular inner bait cartridge inserted into the housing, each having circumferentially elongate apertures therethrough to allow termites to access bait in the cartridge. Each aperture in the cartridge is disposed between a pair of spaced, parallel ribs that extend in the circumferential direction. The ribs reduce the radial gap that must be traversed by a termite passing from the outer housing to the bait cartridge. The ribs also form circumferentially extending channels for producing a channeling effect tending to lead termites into the apertures in the cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20040092637
Abstract: The invention provides a coating composition for use with metallic substrates that provides desirable levels of adhesion to metal, sandability without the production of harmful dust, corrosion resistance, and recoatability. The coating composition of the invention comprises a polyurethane film-forming component, and a corrosion protection component present in the composition in an amount effective in minimizing corrosion and adhesion loss of the coating at the substrate. A cured film of the coating applied to metallic substrates, previously coated substrates, as well as plastic substrates has improved corrosion resistance following Salt Spray Cabinet exposure.

  • Patent number: 6732772
Abstract: A container for use in a closed application system includes a valve mounted to a discharge opening of the container and rotatable with the container for controlling the discharge of material from the container. The valve includes an element for engaging corresponding structure in a receptacle for receiving the contents of the container. The element engages and locks the valve in the receptacle when the valve is opened and the contents are being discharged from the container into the receptacle. The valve element and the corresponding structure on the receptacle cooperate so that the container can only be received in and removed from the receptacle when the valve is closed. In this manner, the contents in the container can be discharged only when the container is received within the receptacle and the container is rotated in a direction to open the valve.

  • Patent number: 6733672
Abstract: A system and method for treatment of soot-laden waste water is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of separating the soot from the waste water initially in a clarifier. The concentrated soot is then treated with an activated sludge mixture in a digester with a very long average hydraulic retention time to effectively digest the materials found in the concentrated soot. Soot-free waste water is treated via standard aerobic, and anoxic reactor basins and a clarifier with activated sludge recirculation. The system effectively removes soot from soot-laden waste water in a cost effective manner.
