Abstract: A surgical needle assembly for attachment to an ultrasonic handpiece includes an elongated metal cannula having a distal end and a proximal end. A hub is insert molded onto the cannula generally towards the cannula proximal end and formed from a material having an ultimate strength at least twice a peak cyclical stress force at a joint between the elongated metal cannula and the hub when the surgical needle assembly is in use with the ultrasonic handpiece. The hub material has a stiffness sufficient to limit a motion of the elongated metal cannula to less than 1.5 times an expected peak to peak stroke length when the surgical needle assembly is in use with the ultrasonic handpiece. The hub includes structure for mating attachment to the ultrasonic handpiece.
Abstract: A phacoemulsification handpiece for ocular surgery includes a housing including a grip for holding the phacoemulsification handpiece, a needle extending from the housing for removing ocular material from an eye, and a horn connected with the needle. The phacoemulsification handpiece also includes a driving circuit configured to vibrate the horn according to a multi-harmonic driving signal, to generate non-sinusoidal ultrasonic motion of a tip of the needle.
Abstract: A device for ocular surgery includes a surgical handpiece including a power cord and an aspiration needle for removing ocular material from an eye, and co-extruded tubing. The tubing includes an aspiration tube for receiving the ocular material removed from the eye by the surgical handpiece, an irrigation tube integrally formed with the aspiration tube for supplying irrigation fluid to the surgical handpiece, and a ridge defined along at least a majority of a length of the co-extruded tubing, the ridge defining a groove for receiving the power cord of the surgical handpiece.

Abstract: The disclosure generally describes methods, systems and products relating to the development and manufacture of scleral contact lenses. A number of dimensions for the scleral lens is generated based on control points and attendant curvature parameters. Any change to one or more of the curve parameters imparts an improved anterior and posterior surface of the scleral lens and associated thickness, while undesired modifications to control points and other curve parameters remain static inasmuch as the sagittal depth component is an input parameter of the present disclosure.
