  • Publication number: 20130175849
Abstract: A wheel assembly configured for suspending the wheel of a motor vehicle on one side and includes a brake disc, which is part of a disc brake and which is fixed, when viewed in the radial direction, to a wheel disc on the outer circumference of the wheel assembly in close vicinity to a wheel rim. A brake caliper of the disc brake surrounds the brake disc over the inner circumference of the brake disc and is fixed to a wheel carrier that supports a stationary ring of a wheel bearing, which has a rotating ring that supports a wheel hub that is connected to the wheel disc in a rotationally and axially fixed manner. The connection of the wheel disc to the wheel hub is formed by a press fit connection or by a spur toothing connection, in particular a Voith Hirth coupling.

  • Publication number: 20130175990
Abstract: An electric vehicle includes an electric machine, a generator generating a first AC output current, an internal combustion engine driving the generator, and a first electric plug-in charging device. When the engine is started, the generator supplies the battery with charging power. The first plug-in charging device is geometrically configured to be connectable with single phase AC power mains to supply the battery with charging power in a vehicle deactivated state. The first plug-in charging device is configured for a maximum electric power voltage load of 240 volts and a maximum current strength of 32 amperes. A second electric plug-in charging device is integrated into the vehicle. A DC charging station is connectable to the second charging device in the deactivated state so the DC charging station is usable either exclusively or simultaneously with the single phase AC power mains for charging the battery.

  • Publication number: 20130173085
Abstract: A method detects a lack of driver activity at the steering wheel of a motor vehicle. A moment imparted by hand to the steering wheel by the driver is repeatedly measured, and if in a plurality of successive measurements the magnitude of a value of the moment imparted by hand does not exceed a threshold value, a lack of driver activity is inferred. The magnitude of the threshold value is dependent on the surface condition, in particular on the degree of unevenness, of the roadway being traveled upon. The degree of unevenness of the roadway may be derived from a measured vertical acceleration in the wheel suspension of the vehicle or from deceleration and/or acceleration signals of at least one wheel of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20130167682
Abstract: A shift device with an over-shift lock for a multi-speed transmission of a motor vehicle, in which individual gears are shifted incrementally, is provided. The shift device has a pivotable shifting element which is composed of an activation element and a driver element displaceably held thereon. Both elements have mutually aligned oblong holes which are penetrated by a shifting shaft leading to the transmission. A shifting process is limited by the striking of the shifting shaft against the end sides of the oblong holes. In this position, the alternating influencing of the shifting shaft and the contours of the oblong holes prevents a further rotation of the shifting shaft and thereby an over-shifting of the transmission.

  • Publication number: 20130161982
Abstract: A tilt-and-slide vehicle sunroof has a cover that closes a roof opening in which a central beam is arranged. The rear edge of the cover is moveable upwards out of the roof opening and backwards. The sunroof has a central beam guide in the central beam, which runs approximately in the vehicle longitudinal direction and in which a sliding element is guided. The sliding element is connected to a laterally central front lower region of the cover directly or via at least one intermediate part in a fixed, pivotable, and/or height adjustable manner. A guide part arranged in a laterally central region of the vehicle at a distance behind the sliding element is guided in the central beam guide or in a roof longitudinal guide and is connectable to the cover directly or via a connecting part in a longitudinally displaceable, pivotable, and/or height adjustable manner relative to the cover.

  • Patent number: 8473266
Abstract: In a method for simulating a physical property of a component model in the form of a computer accessible construction model of a technical structure, a mesh of a component model is automatically generated. The component model is first described by a fine mesh of finite elements, and, based on the fine mesh, the natural oscillation behavior of the component model is determined. Based on the natural oscillation behavior, at least one area of the component model is determined, whose finite elements are less deformed than those of another area of the component model. The determined area of the component model is then described by a coarser mesh of finite elements.

  • Patent number: 8468987
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having eight cylinders in V-configuration, wherein a first cylinder bank and a second cylinder bank are disposed opposite one another. The internal combustion engine includes a cross-plane crankshaft and has a firing order of a 90° crank angle from cylinder to cylinder. An intake camshaft and an exhaust camshaft are associated with each cylinder bank for actuating at least one intake gas exchange valve and one exhaust gas exchange valve for each cylinder. The gas exchange intake valves that are actuated at a 90° crank angle in the same cylinder bank have a larger valve stroke than the gas exchange intake valves in same cylinder bank actuated immediately prior thereto. The gas exchange intake valves in the same cylinder bank actuated immediately prior thereto have a smaller valve stroke than all the remaining gas exchange intake valves of both cylinder banks.
