Publication number: 20090193119Abstract: Methods and systems can reduce the spread of computer files or data on a network by obtaining and tracking times of arrival for chunks of data transmitted on the network. The times of arrival for a node can be transformed into time-series and periodograms computed from the time-series. Successive periodograms can be compared to determine changes in the strongest peaks of the periodograms. If a new peak is identified, a search for the occurrence of the peak in previous periodograms can be conducted. If no peak having a matching frequency is found, a search for the peak in the periodograms for neighboring nodes can be performed. If matching peaks are found, the associated data stream can be classified. Predictions of the timing and length of associated data packets can be used to randomly interrupt transmission of associated data packets resulting in reducing the spread of the classified data stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2009Publication date: July 30, 2009Applicant: BBNT Solutions, LLCInventor: Tushar Saxena

Patent number: 7292977Abstract: A system (230) performs speaker adaptation when performing speech recognition. The system (230) receives an audio segment and identifies the audio segment as a first audio segment or a subsequent audio segment associated with a speaker turn. The system (230) then decodes the audio segment to generate a transcription associated with the first audio segment when the audio segment is the first audio segment and estimates a transformation matrix based on the transcription associated with the first audio segment. The system (230) decodes the audio segment using the transformation matrix to generate a transcription associated with the subsequent audio segment when the audio segment is the subsequent audio segment.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2003Date of Patent: November 6, 2007Assignee: BBNT Solutions LLCInventor: Daben Liu

Publication number: 20070237030Abstract: Systems and methods for locating the shooter of supersonic projectiles are described. The system uses at least five, preferably seven, spaced acoustic sensors. Sensor signals are detected for shockwaves and muzzle blast, wherein muzzle blast detection can be either incomplete coming from less than 4 sensor channels, or inconclusive due to lack of signal strength. Shooter range can be determined by an iterative computation and/or a genetic algorithm by minimizing a cost function that includes timing information from both shockwave and muzzle signal channels. Disambiguation is significantly improved over shockwave-only measurements.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2005Publication date: October 11, 2007Applicant: BBNT Solutions LLCInventors: James Barger, Stephen Milligan, Marshall Brinn, Richard Mullen

Patent number: 7274776Abstract: Schemes for routing a call using caller identification are described herein. These schemes are termed “real caller ID” and can be capable of determining the identity of a calling party independent of a telephone number from which the call originated. According to one exemplary embodiment, a method of routing a call from a calling party to a receiving party may include accessing a database containing a plurality of voice templates of prior calling parties. Each voice template may have correlated therewith a call disposition parameter defined by the receiving party. Next, a voice response from the calling party may be compared with one of the plurality of voice templates stored in the database. Subsequently, the call may be routed to the receiving party based on a match between the voice response and the one of the plurality of voice templates.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2005Date of Patent: September 25, 2007Assignees: Verizon Laboratories Inc, BBNT Solutions LLCInventors: Robert Anthony Virzi, Marie Wenzel Meteer

Publication number: 20070118873Abstract: A computerized method and apparatus is disclosed for merging content segments from a number of discrete media content (e.g., audio/video podcasts) in preparation for playback. The method and apparatus obtain metadata corresponding to a plurality of discrete media content. The metadata identifies the content segments and their corresponding timing information, such that the metadata of at least one of the plurality of discrete media content is derived using one or more media processing techniques. A number of the content segments are selected to be merged for playback using the timing information from the metadata. The merged media content can be implemented as a playlist identifying the content segments to be merged for playback. The merged media content can also be generated by extracting the content segments to be merged for playback from each of the media files/streams and then merging the extracted segments into one or more merged media files/streams.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Applicant: BBNT Solutions LLCInventors: Henry Houh, Jeffrey Stern

Publication number: 20060245424Abstract: The systems and methods described herein include, among other things, processes for providing low latency packet transport in ad hoc networks. To this end, the systems, in certain embodiments, employ an architecture for communication nodes in MANETs, in which the delay introduced in “routing” or “relaying” the packet is reduced. In these systems invention, the data plane of the OSI stack at relay nodes is collapsed so that bits entering the node are re-energized “on-the-fly”, with only a brief pause. A transit key in each packet, inserted by the originator of the packet, is used to index into a transit table to determine one of three actions to perform—drop, keep, or retransmit the packet. A control plane determines, for each packet, whether it should be re-energized or not. The control algorithm ensures that only nodes along the path from the source to the destination re-energize (relay) the packet.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2005Publication date: November 2, 2006Applicant: BBNT Solutions LLCInventors: Subramanian Ramanathan, Marcos Bergamo, Brig Elliott

Publication number: 20060188075Abstract: Systems and methods that, among other things, analyze and monitor the performance of a call center including performance of the interactive voice response (IVR) systems, call center agents, and other components of the call center. The systems and methods record characteristics of the call such as the audio data, and analyze that record to identify the events and the actions that take place during the call. These events and actions may be defined as complex customer/call center interactions, such as dropped calls, logic errors or other event. A call center administrator may also identify a set of metrics, such as the number of dropped calls that occur during a day or for each agent, the number of times a client was left on hold for more than two minutes, or other such metrics that may be monitored by the systems described herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2005Publication date: August 24, 2006Applicant: BBNT Solutions LLCInventor: Patrick Peterson
