Abstract: A luer port alert device and method of alerting a care provider to a condition of a patient therewith prior to administering fluid treatment to the patient is provided. The luer port alert device includes an arcuate body having a through passage extending along a central axis between opposite ends. A bridge member extends from the body over one of the ends generally along the central axis to at least partially obstruct access to the through passage. The bridge member is selectively and resiliently moveable radially outwardly the central axis under an externally applied force to allow full, unobstructed access to the through passage, when desired, and returns to its relaxed position generally along the central axis upon removing the externally applied force.

Abstract: A method begins by a processing module of a dispersed storage network (DSN) sending a set of write commands to storage units of the DSN regarding storage of a set of current revision level encoded data slices and receiving a write acknowledgement in response to a write command. The method continues with the processing module determining whether a write threshold number of write acknowledgements have been received. When the write threshold number of write acknowledgements have been received, the method continues with the processing module issuing a set of commit commands to the storage units. The method continues with the processing module determining whether to issue a set of finalize commands, where a finalize command instructs a storage unit regarding storage of a corresponding current revision level encoded data slice and storage of a previous revision level encoded data.

Abstract: A power-saving enabled subscriber device operates in a low-power state in which at least one wireless link is disconnected from a wireless data network and in which the wireless link is periodically temporarily re-established to check for pending transmissions at a first reduced frequency before re-entering the disconnected state in response to finding no pending data transmissions. To reduce delays in setting up a new call to the subscriber device, and responsive to detecting an association, or change in association, of the subscriber device with one of (i) a particular geographic region, (ii) a particular role at a particular geographic region, and (iii) a particular talk group, the subscriber device transitioning the subscriber device to a higher-power state and transmitting data messages over the wireless link at a second increased frequency to cause the subscriber device to remain in a connected state more often compared to the low-power state.

Abstract: A system and method of managing immutable objects includes monitoring new object construction, detecting construction of an object, determining a key for the object, looking the key up in a persistent storage system, when the key is found in the persistent storage system, loading the object from the persistent storage system, and when the key is not found in the persistent storage system constructing the object, determining whether the object is immutable, and storing the object in the persistent storage system when the object is immutable. In some examples, determining whether the object is immutable includes examining each primitive type data member of the object, examining each reference type constructor parameter of the object to determine whether the reference type constructor parameter is defensively copied, examining all function calls used by the object to determine whether the function calls preserve immutability, and recursively examining each reference type data member of the object.

Abstract: Circuits and methods for detecting, identifying and/or removing undesired content are provided. According to one embodiment, a method for virus processing is provided. A virus signature file that includes multiple virus signatures capable of detecting and identifying a variety of known viruses is downloaded by a general purpose processor. It is determined by the general purpose processor whether a virus co-processor is coupled to the general purpose processor. When the virus co-processor is determined to be coupled to the general purpose processor, then it is further determined by the general purpose processor which virus signatures are supported by the virus co-processor (“CP-supported virus signatures”). The CP-supported virus signatures are transferred to a memory associated with the virus co-processor. The virus co-processor is directed by the general purpose processor to perform a virus scan based on the supported virus signatures.

Abstract: A method for maintaining a prepaid payment system comprises a user account that can be utilized to complete a purchase transaction with a merchant. A delayed processing window is introduced between a time when the merchant receives a payment approval notification from the payment system and a time when the payment system transmits a payment request to an issuer of a funding account associated with the user's payment system account. The payment system utilizes a user's stored value account maintained by the payment system to satisfy the requirements of a prepaid program, and therefore processes the payment request received from the merchant and transmits the payment approval notification without obtaining prior authorization from the issuer of the funding account. The payment system submits one or more payment requests for the funding transaction at a time after the completion of the purchase transaction between the user and the merchant.
