Publication number: 20140203782Abstract: A battery management system includes detecting circuitry and control circuitry coupled to the detecting circuitry. The detecting circuitry detects cell voltages of battery cells of a battery pack. The control circuitry alternates between a normal state and a charging prohibition state. In the normal state, charging of the battery cells is enabled and the cell voltages increase, and if a voltage of a battery cell of the battery cells exceeds a predetermined overcharge threshold, then the control circuitry transitions to the charging prohibition state. In the charging prohibition state, charging of the battery cells is disabled, and the voltage of the battery cell decreases if at least one cell of the battery cells has a voltage less than a balance threshold. If the voltage of the battery cell falls to a predetermined overcharge-released threshold, then the control circuitry transitions to the normal state and enables charging of the battery cells.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2013Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: O2MICRO INC.Inventors: Weidong XUE, Anquan XIAO, Xiaohu TANG, Xiaofei GONG

Publication number: 20140204096Abstract: Systems and methods for displays that have a moveable shutter formed on a substrate having an aperture. The shutter, in at least one position, is asymmetrically aligned over the aperture. The asymmetric alignment provides an overlap between shutter and the substrate on one side of the aperture that is larger than an overlap between the shutter and the substrate on another side of the aperture. Typically, the larger overlap increases the ability of the shutter to reduce light passing through though the aperture when then shutter is the in the at least one position.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2013Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: PIXTRONIX, INC.Inventor: JIANRU SHI

Publication number: 20140205156Abstract: A process for extracting iris data for biometric identification includes a thresholding method where the thresholds are selected according to a nonparametric approach that considers the grey scale and does not require classifying pixels as edge or non-edge pixels. An eye image is first acquired, where the eye image has component images including an iris image with an inner boundary and an outer boundary. The eye image has a distribution of grey levels. Component images, such as an iris image or a pupil image, from the eye image are segmented according to the distribution of grey levels. The inner boundary and outer boundary of the iris image are determined from the component images. The iris image within the inner boundary and outer boundary is processed for biometric identification. The component images may be segmented by creating an eye histogram of pixel intensities from the distribution of grey levels.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2014Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: Morpho Trust USA Inc.Inventor: Yasunari Tosa

Publication number: 20140207592Abstract: A processing server may receive transaction data from one or more point of sale (POS) terminals in near real-time. Transaction data received from each of the POS terminals may be in a format that is specific to the POS terminal. Upon receiving the transaction data having the POS specific format, the processing server may convert the transaction data to a common format that is compatible with the operations of the processing server. Further, the processing server may index the converted transaction data into one or more categories. Responsive to indexing, the processing server may generate aggregate data from the indexed transaction data. Further, the processing server may receive a request for a data report associated with the aggregate data. Responsive to receiving the request, the processing server may generate the data report, format the data report to match a user preference, and transmit the data report for presentation.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2013Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: lnmar Disital Promotions Networkl Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Publication number: 20140207784Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards generating a representative sampling as a subset from a larger dataset that includes unstructured data. A graphical user interface enables a user to provide various data selection parameters, including specifying a data source and one or more subset types desired, including one or more of latest records, earliest records, diverse records, outlier records, and/or random records. Diverse and/or outlier subset types may be obtained by generating clusters from an initial selection of records obtained from the larger dataset. An iteration analysis is performed to determine whether a sufficient number of clusters and/or cluster types have been generated that exceed at least one threshold and when not exceeded, additional clustering is performed on additional records. From the resultant clusters, and/or other subtype results, a subset of records is obtained as the representative sampling subset.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2014Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: SPLUNK INC.Inventors: R. Publication number: 20140207753Abstract: A system, method, or computer-readable medium provide a look-up table having information on roots in repositories managed by a repository manager, the roots information in the look-up table being only n-levels deep. A file request is received, including filename and filepath with root. Before checking repositories managed by the repository manager for the requested file, the look-up table is referenced to determine whether the root of the requested file exists on one of the repositories managed by the repository manager. A check of the repository is bypassed when the look-up table does not indicate that the root exists on the repository. The repository is checked for the requested file, when the root is indicated as existing on the repository. The requested file is returned, if actually found on one repository. A “fail” response is returned, if the root is not indicated as existing in the look-up table.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2013Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: Sonatype, Inc.Inventor: Brian Edward Fox

Publication number: 20140202019Abstract: A method and apparatus for underwater pelletizing and subsequent drying of crystallizing polymers to crystallize the polymer pellets with out subsequent heating is shown in FIG. 5. High velocity air or other inert gas is injected into the water and pellet slurry line (120) toward the dryer near the pelletizer exit (102) at a flow rate from about 100 to about 175 m3/hour, or more. Such high-speed air movement forms a vapor mist with the water and significantly increases th speed of the pellets into and out of the dryer such that the polymer pellets leave the dryer with sufficient latent heat to cause self-crystallization within the pellets. A valve mechanism in the slurry line (150) after the gas injection further regulates the pellet residence time and a vibrating conveyor after the dryer helps the pellets to achieve the desired level of crystallinity and to avoid agglomeration.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2013Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: GALA INDUSTRIES, INC.Inventors: Michael ELOO, Roger B. Publication number: 20140208238Abstract: The present invention provides a highly scalable architecture for a three-dimensional graphical, multi-user, interactive virtual world system. In a preferred embodiment a plurality of users interact in the three-dimensional, computer-generated graphical space where each user executes a client process to view a virtual world from the perspective of that user. The virtual world shows avatars representing the other users who are neighbors of the user viewing the virtual word. In order that the view can be updated to reflect the motion of the remote user's avatars, motion information is transmitted to a central server process which provides positions updates to client processes for neighbors of the user at that client process. The client process also uses an environment database to determine which background objects to render as well as to limit the movement of the user's avatar.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2013Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: WORLDS INC.Inventors: Dave LEAHY, Judith Challinger, B.
