Abstract: Different services are provided to different users or groups of users of an aggregate endpoint in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) network. The different users or groups of users are differentiated based on service profiles designated by different PUIDs for the different users or groups of users of each of the users or groups of users. Different services for transmission and/or receipt of packets for the different users or groups of users of the aggregate endpoint are provided, depending upon the differentiation between the different users or groups of users.

Abstract: A method of analyzing participant activity includes providing an identification unit to a participant, receiving signals from the identification unit, determining location of the participant based on the received signals, storing the location information and the associated timestamp and analyzing the stored information.

Abstract: Techniques for linking and browsing media on a television (TV) are provided. A selected program, which is associated with a channel of the TV, is detected and additional content, which is associated with that channel and/or the selected program, is dynamically acquired from one or more external sources. The additional content is formatted as links and simultaneously presented within a display of the TV along with the selected program that continues to play on the TV. Furthermore, activation of any link results in the additional content being dynamically acquired and presented within the display.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for forwarding data in hybrid wireless mesh networks. The method includes configuring a number of mesh network nodes as Potential Relay Nodes (PRNs) in an overlay network associated with a hybrid wireless mesh network, streaming data packets from a source node to a destination node using a native data forwarding algorithm of the hybrid wireless mesh network, dynamically identifying Relay Nodes (RNs) among PRNs in the overlay network, creating secondary paths for sending data packets towards selected RNs in the overlay network, and relaying data packets from RNs to the destination node using the overlay network.

Abstract: Disclosed are method and apparatus for identifying members of a social network who have a high likelihood of providing a useful response to a query. A query engine examines the personal pages of a set of members and automatically gleans semantic information relevant to the query. From the automatically-gleaned semantic information, a score indicative of the likelihood that the member may provide a useful response is calculated.

Abstract: A disclosed method for providing service provider information to a user communication device includes determining a telecommunications service provider associated with a targeted node such as a called party telephone number. An indicator of the telecommunications service provider is provided to and displayed by the user communication device. Communication services available to the communication device are then determined based at least in part on the identity of the telecommunications service provider. Indications of the available communication services may be presented to the communication device by audible or visual signals.

Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to construct histogram and wavelet synopses for probabilistic data are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves receiving probabilistic data associated with probability measures and generating a plurality of histograms based on the probabilistic data. Each histogram is generated based on items represented by the probabilistic data. In addition, each histogram is generated using a different quantity of buckets containing different ones of the items. An error measure associated with each of the plurality of histograms is determined and one of the plurality of histograms is selected based on its associated error measure. The method also involves displaying parameter information associated with the one of the plurality of histograms to represent the data.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that improve automatic speech recognition in a spoken dialog system. The method comprises partitioning speech recognizer output into self-contained clauses, identifying a dialog act in each of the self-contained clauses, qualifying dialog acts by identifying a current domain object and/or a current domain action, and determining whether further qualification is possible for the current domain object and/or current domain action. If further qualification is possible, then the method comprises identifying another domain action and/or another domain object associated with the current domain object and/or current domain action, reassigning the another domain action and/or another domain object as the current domain action and/or current domain object and then recursively qualifying the new current domain action and/or current object. This process continues until nothing is left to qualify.

Abstract: An engine system for a combustion engine that has an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold has a turbine having a turbine inlet for receiving exhaust gas and a turbine outlet for discharging exhaust gas, and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) having a DPF inlet in flow-communication with the exhaust manifold and a DPF outlet in flow-communication with the turbine inlet. The exhaust at the exhaust manifold has a sufficiently high temperature to maintain passive regeneration of the DPF during normal operating conditions. If the engine system includes an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, the EGR inlet is in flow-communication with the DPF outlet, and an EGR outlet is in flow-communication with the intake manifold. High pressure, high temperature, filtered EGR gas is available for EGR recirculation.

Abstract: A method of controlling an engine exhaust temperature and an exhaust mass flow rate for stationary regeneration of an engine exhaust gas particulate filter of an engine. The method implements a feed forward control that sets an EGR valve position and an injection timing associated with the engine, and a sets an engine speed. The method implements a feed back control that sets a turbo waste gate position and an intake throttle position associated with the engine.

Abstract: Enhanced biometric authentication is achieved by combining a user's inherent biometric data with the user's knowledge of a secret glyph. In one embodiment, a touchpad is provided on which the user may use a finger to indicate a plurality of strokes that form a distinct glyph. Image stabilization may be used to extract a readable fingerprint from the strokes, and the glyph and finger print are matched to a stored profile. The glyph may be one or more alphanumeric characters that represent a password. The user can then enter the password on the touch pad with his finger. If the fingerprint and password both match, the user is authenticated.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a computing device, including a controller to: transmit a client program having a graphical user interface (GUI) to a media device operating in an interactive television (iTV) network, wherein the client program presents a symbolic overlay that superimposes onto media content received by the media device and enables the media device to associate commentary with the media content received at the media device; and present the commentary by symbolic representations in a carrousel format within a window of the presentation of the symbolic overlay and in a vicinity of the media content. Abstract: Sulfonated polymers are made by the direct polymerization of a sulfonated monomer to form the sulfonated polymers. The types of sulfonated polymers may include polysulfones or polyimides. The sulfonated polymers can be formed into membranes that may be used in proton exchange membrane fuel cells or as ion exchange membranes. The membranes formed from the sulfonated polymers exhibit improved properties over that of Nafion®. A heteropoly acid may be added to the sulfonated polymer to form a nanocomposite membrane in which the heteropoly acid is highly dispersed. The addition of a heteropoly acid to the sulfonated polymer increases the thermal stability of the membrane, enhances the conductivity above 100° C., and reduces the water uptake of the membrane.

Abstract: Systems and processes that incorporate teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, transmitting a client program having a graphical user interface to a media device accessible via an interactive television network. Temporal actions of users are collected, while presenting a media program of the client program. A symbolic overlay of the client program is generated including a linear presentation of the timeline corresponding to temporal progression of presentation of the media program, and an iconic symbol corresponding to the temporal action that superimposes the symbolic overlay onto the media content. The iconic symbol enables association of comments with the media content. The comments are presented by at least one symbol situated relative to the linear presentation of the timeline corresponding to the temporal progression of the media. Abstract: The present application discloses an engine configured to selectively operate using a first fuel and a second fuel and adapter devices and methods for converting an engine to operate using a second fuel. In certain embodiments, the adapter device comprises a body member configured to be installed between an upper intake manifold and a lower intake manifold of an engine. A plurality of intake channels and fuel injector ports are formed in the body member. The body member is configured such that the intake channels are substantially aligned with the corresponding intake openings of the upper and lower intake manifolds when the body member is installed between the upper and lower intake manifolds. Each fuel injector port extends from a sidewall of the body member to at least one intake channel and is configured to receive a fuel injector for emitting a second fuel into the intake channel.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for displaying tag words for selection by users engaged in social tagging of content accessible via a communications network, are provided. A tag cloud, tag word inventory curve and slider control are displayed within a graphical user interface. The tag cloud is a visual representation of an inventory of tag words. The tag word inventory curve is a graphical representation of the words in the inventory by frequency of usage by others. The slider control is responsive to user movement, and is movable within a range that spans the length of the tag word inventory curve. Movement of the slider control changes the number of tag words from the inventory displayed in the tag cloud according to frequency of usage by others.
