Publication number: 20170154425Abstract: In general, certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and systems for object detection by a neural network comprising a convolution-nonlinearity step and a recurrent step. In a training mode, a dataset is passed into the neural network, and the neural network is trained to accurately output a box size and a center location of an object of interest. The box size corresponds to the smallest possible bounding box around the object of interest and the center location corresponds to the location of the center of the bounding box. In an inference mode, an image that is not part of the dataset is passed into the neural network. The neural network automatically identifies an object of interest and draws a box around the identified object of interest. The box drawn around the identified object of interest corresponds to the smallest possible bounding box around the object of interest.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2016Publication date: June 1, 2017Applicant: Pilot Al Labs, Inc.Inventors: Brian Pierce, Elliot English, Ankit Kumar, Jonathan Su

Patent number: 9654481Abstract: In providing secure data access, a secure data device receives a data access request to access secured data stored in a storage of the secure data device. A location module of the secure data device calculates a current location of the secure data device. A secure data module of the secure data device compares the current location and a pre-stored location stored in the secure data device. Upon determining that the current location matches the pre-stored location, the secure data module retrieves the secure data from the storage and processes the secure data. The processed secure data is sent as available data in response to the data access request. Upon determining that the current location does not match the pre-stored location, the secure data module retrieves the secure data and processes the secure data in a manner that renders the available data unusable.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2015Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: TP Lab, Inc.Inventor: Chi Fai Ho

Patent number: 9651946Abstract: Particular embodiments also include a optimization and simulation service that can analyze different variables for scheduling the satellites. The optimization and simulation service operates automatically to schedule satellites and ground stations to obtain their highest attainable performance relative to the system operator's goals as well as to respond to various unexpected behavior or events and performance variations, modifying the schedule accordingly. The optimization and simulation service leverages the sparsity of the system in the optimization such that the optimization and simulation service can calculate the change in utility for one satellite without reference to unimpacted satellite schedules. This allows the schedule to be calculated efficiently and provides optimum usage of the satellites.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2016Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: Planet Labs Inc.Inventors: Michael Rubel, James Mason

Publication number: 20170132861Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for remotely managing access to an area. An access management platform, which can be an electronic lock that is installed on, e.g., a door of a house, can enable a user to establish a virtual presence at the door. In one example a delivery person activates a doorbell button icon of the access management platform, which sends a message to a smartphone of the owner of the platform. The owner, who is at work, uses his smartphone to initiate a video stream using a camera of the platform, and a two way audio stream. The owner sees and initiates a discussion with the delivery person. The owner uses his smartphone to unlock the door, and asks the delivery person to open the door and deliver the package inside. The owner uses his smartphone to capture his signature to acknowledge the delivery.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2017Publication date: May 11, 2017Applicant: Gate Labs Inc.Inventors: Harvey HO, Ehsan SAEEDI, Danial EHYAIE
