  • Patent number: 11883170
Abstract: A biological fluid collection device (10) that receives a sample (12) and provides flow-through blood stabilization technology and a precise sample dispensing function for point-of-care and near patient testing applications is disclosed. A biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure is able to effectuate distributed mixing of a sample stabilizer within a blood sample and dispense the stabilized sample in a controlled manner. In this manner, a biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure enables blood micro-sample management, e.g., passive mixing with a sample stabilizer and controlled dispensing, for point-of-care and near patient testing applications. Advantageously, a biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure includes an internal vacuum (28). In this manner, a biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure eliminates the need for additional vacuum creating components that must be connected to the biological fluid collection device during use.

  • Patent number: 11883615
Abstract: A catheter insertion device is provided for positioning and inserting a catheter, particularly a midline catheter into a patient. The insertion device includes an actuator assembly movable with respect to a housing for deploying the catheter over a needle. A step-wise movement of the actuator advances a catheter assembly, including the catheter, in stages over the introducer needle. An indexing finger of the catheter assembly engages the actuator body during distal advancement of the actuator, and deflects as the actuator is moved proximally. The device further includes a lockout device such as a button, collar, slider, or tab, which allows movement of the catheter relative to the needle but prevents advancement of the catheter to the first stage of the step-wise movement.

  • Publication number: 20240024568
Abstract: A micropump according to the invention uses axially oriented pistons to define a pump volume. Translating the pistons axially with respect to each other within a pump housing draws a metered amount of fluid into the pump volume from a reservoir port for delivery to a cannula port when the space is collapsed. Radially situated seals on the pistons cooperate with the axial movement to close off and open the cannula port and the reservoir port respectively at different positions of the piston stroke.
