Abstract: An information notification method is applied to a multimedia home platform (MHP) and a digital TV. First, receive at least one first broadcast data transmitted by television broadcaster. Following that, extract at least one effective data including a preset keyword from the first broadcast data in accordance with the preset keyword and an effective time data corresponding to the at least one effective data, and store an effective time corresponding to the effective time data. Afterward, when a preset time related to the at least one effective time is reached, output a notification signal.
Abstract: A method of controlling a display device selectively displaying one of a first signal received from a first signal source and a second signal received from a second signal source is provided. The method includes the steps of: displaying the second signal; detecting whether the first signal is received; and displaying the first signal when the first signal is received by the display device.

Abstract: A scan method includes providing a scanner, including an image sensor, a reference pattern and a transmission mechanism. The image sensor scans the reference pattern to generate reference data. The transmission mechanism transmits at least one recording media between the reference pattern and the image sensor. Finally, the image sensor generates scan data, and the scanner compares the scan data with the reference data to obtain a transmission condition thereof.
Abstract: A method for searching a frequency band to locate a channel. The method includes the steps of setting an initial frequency and a first frequency step; determining a frequency point based on the initial frequency and the first frequency step; determining whether the frequency point satisfies a first condition, which is continuously detecting a horizontal signal a predetermined number of times. When the first condition is satisfied, the frequency point is recorded as an entrance point. A second frequency step based on the entrance point determines a second frequency point, wherein the second frequency step is less than the first frequency step. It is then determined if a channel exists at the second frequency point. The entrance point is recorded as the updated initial frequency for the next search. The described steps are repeated for the entire frequency band.
Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a housing, and a fragment mechanism installed inside the housing. The fragment mechanism includes a first fragment, and a second fragment pressing against the first fragment. The first fragment is capable of being separated from the second fragment when an impulsive force greater than a critical impulsive force is applied to the portable electronic device.
Abstract: A slidable and automatic rotatable apparatus disposed in a portable electronic device and providing the portable electronic device, which includes a first housing and a second housing, with a first status and a second status is provided. The apparatus includes a third housing, a protruding part disposed on the second housing and opposite to the first track, and a rotary module passing through the second track. The third housing, which is fixed on the first housing and movably connected with the second housing, includes a first track, a second track, and a first rib disposed on a first side of the second track. A first end of the rotary module is fixed on the second housing, while a second end is disposed between the first housing and the third housing. The rotary module has at least one protruding point positioned at the second end for contacting the first rib.
Abstract: A mobile phone and a battery-release device. The mobile phone includes a body, a positioning device, and a battery. The positioning device includes a magnet. The positioning device is disposed in the body in a manner such that it moves between a first position and a second position. The battery is disposed in the body in a detachable manner, and includes a moveable engaging member. When the positioning device is in the first position, the engaging member is attracted by the magnet so that the battery is fixed in the body. When the positioning device is in the second position, the engaging member is not attracted by the magnet so that the battery is separated from the body.
Abstract: A method of user-defined key setting in a portable electronic communication device. Corresponding relationships between keys and functions is recorded in a first mapping table and the portable electronic communication device executes the functions accordingly. When a user-defined key is to be set, a first key input and a function input are first received. The corresponding relationship between the first key input and the function input is then recorded in a second mapping table. The portable electronic communication device executes the functions according to the second mapping table.
Abstract: A portable electronic device is disclosed. The portable electronic device includes a body, a circuit board, and a USB plug. The body includes a top cover and a bottom cover. The top cover is engaged with the bottom cover. The circuit board is disposed in the body. The USB plug includes a metallic plug and an insulating portion connecting with the metallic plug. The USB plug is detachably disposed between the top cover and the bottom cover and transits between a first position and a second position. When the USB plug is in the first position, the metallic plug and the insulating portion abut against the top cover and the bottom cover. When the USB plug is in the second position, the metallic plug is disposed outside the body.
Abstract: The invention discloses a pressing device and scan apparatus using the same. The scan apparatus includes an upper cover, a carriage flatbed, and a pressing device. The pressing device includes a pressing part, a frame, and a clipping part. The pressing part is disposed at a lower surface of the upper cover. The frame is connected to the upper cover. The clipping part is disposed on the frame and connected to the upper cover. A part of the clipping part connects to the pressing part for fixing a to-be-scanned object. When the upper cover is covered on the carriage flatbed, the upper cover moves down relative to the frame and brings the clipping part to move such that the clipping part is separated from the pressing part to release the to-be-scanned object, and the pressing part above the to-be-scanned object flattens the same on the carriage flatbed.
Abstract: A printer of the invention includes a main body, an exit roller and at least one kicking mechanism. The exit roller is rotatably disposed on the main body and comprises a shaft and a rolling portion disposed on the shaft and rotated by the shaft to send paper out of the main body. The kicking mechanism is joined to the shaft and periodically exceeds the exit roller in a paper exit direction to kick the paper from the exit roller.
Abstract: A method for playing an audio-video (AV) file is provided. The first AV file is played in a first or a second player. The first and the second players are coupled to one first digital media server. First, the first digital media server outputs a first AV file to the first player for playing the same. Next, the first player outputs a first pausing signal corresponding to the first AV file to the first digital media server. Then, the first digital media server pauses the first AV file and generates a first pausing data recording a first pausing time. Next, the second player outputs a pause-canceling signal to the first digital media server. When the pause-canceling signal corresponds to the first AV file, the first digital media server starts outputting the first AV file to the second player from the first pausing time.

Abstract: A method of arranging cells comprises: (a) applying a voltage to two electrodes so as to allow a plurality of cells suspended in a dielectrophoresis-manipulating buffer (DEP-manipulating buffer) to be driven to be arranged into a pattern; (b) replacing the DEP-manipulating buffer with a solution comprising calcium ion and magnesium ion which helps the patterned cells adhere to the substrate; and (c) replacing the solution comprising calcium ion and magnesium ion with a medium so as to allow the patterned cells to grow on the substrate.
Abstract: An antenna and an electronic device utilizing the same are disclosed. The antenna includes a transmission element, a grounding board and a feed element. The grounding board is parallel to the transmission element and has a first surface, a second surface and a through hole. Abstract: A method for printing data includes the following steps. First, an ink jet printer, having a print head with a black jet and a color jet, for printing a swath of data is provided. Then, the print head is driven to start to print the swath of data on one side of the ink jet printer. Next, the black jet and the color jet are alternately triggered to print corresponding pieces of black data and corresponding pieces of color data in the swath of data. Thereafter, the swath of data is completely printed when the print head is driven to the other side of ink jet printer.

Abstract: An operation scheduling method employed in a display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus comprises first and second functions, and each function corresponds to an instruction set. Each instruction set comprises at least one instruction block and corresponds to a block execution state. The method comprises: (a) determining whether the first function is activated, and if so, proceeding to step (b), otherwise, to step (d); (b) retrieving the block execution state of the first function; (c) executing the instruction block of the first function according to the retrieved block execution state of the first function; (d) determining whether the second function is activated, and if so, proceeding to step (e), otherwise, to step (a); (e) retrieving the block execution state of the second function; (f) executing the instruction block of the second function according to the retrieved block execution state of the second function; and (g) returning to (a).
Abstract: A path metric computation method and apparatus for estimating a maximum likelihood sequence in a wireless communication network. The proposed method applies the statistical properties of estimated channel impulse response to reduce the computational load. A threshold is set to check the significance of each autocorrelation value in order to determine the contribution to the path metric increment. The corresponding terms in the path metric equation with insignificant autocorrelation values are thus discarded to reduce the complexity of path metric computation.
